My brother friend and I got up at 8:00 this morning to go on a bike ride and what a bike ride, my thighs are killing me!!

@All Australians
Living in Adelaide we took the bike trail right next to the torrens river. We started at the subrb of Athelstone and went straight down to west beach then up to henly.

@Non Australians
You probably don't know what the hell I am talking about in the above paragraph, so if you go to google AUS then punch in Adelaide Torrens river you will probably find out a bit more info

All in all to get to west beach and back took us one whole day! And we rode 30 Kilometers! (there and back again!) What a day my legs hurt real bad!

Sound fun
I once went on a 65km walk with some friends in Germany. Started at 11.00 at night, walked through the night (By torchlight - which began to run low while we were walking through woods) and finished at about 4:00 in the afternoon the following day. Was very fun, though I had huge blisters on my feet Must do again sometime...

I rode 40 miles once. It was 20 miles to a Scout campout, but I couldn't spend the night, so I rode immediately back. I didn't get back until late that night, and I raced traffic the whole way.

40 miles = 64.37376 kilometers

I felt like hell the next day.

Cannot really remember what's the farthest I've done. But since Cash did that, I must beat his record.
Sorry.

It doesn't count when the whole journey is downhill.

Military scout or Boy Scout? If the latter (which I'm assuming it is, not sure military scouts give you a bike during training or have "campouts"), I know how that feels. We had a hike in the Sonora in California, which was a 25 mile there/25 mile back thing. And oh God the blisters. Also, when I got to the campsite, the only place decently level to sleep in was in a 50 foot round ditch... and can you imagine, it rained that night. So after packing up our soaked stuff and being made to walk all the way back (luckily, downhill that time), I vowed not to sleep in any more ditches. But it was fun.

I'd agree with Ben, a bunch of X miles isn't that impressive if it's all on an even level and smooth pavement. Mountain biking through rough terrain and rock into the middle of no where? That's a different story.

Well, if it's downhill, then wouldn't that mean that coming back would be uphill?

You can drive uphill with some mates and bike downhill, while someone else goes to get the pizza.

i haven't done much biking at all (other than around the block ), i've done some backpacking though... like a 30 mile loop in some mountains...no, we didn't do that in one day ... it might be possible, but then you wouldn't get to enjoy the mountains which is the whole idea anyway

once we went in some canoes (with backpacks, but we didn't have to carry them obviously) for 3 days... that was fun, but it rained on us the entire time, then when we got back to the car it stopped raining

the best part is when you pack up your camp in the morning and you're like "that entire thing fit in our backpacks???"

It was my son's boy scout troop. By the time I got home, my ass and hands were numb and dead. I couldn't sit down. I got a seat gel pad and gloves afterward. It actually rained on them that night, too.

Bah, I bike 40km every other day. (And no not downhilling, true off-road, dirt in your face, tree branch dodging biking.)

Kids these days...
