A sort of cyclops. I like colours on this one and the fur sheep ^^. The hardest part was the tree and it's not even finished yet .

Are you using a graphics pad to draw them?
Then texturing in photoshop.

Two totally different styles. The cyclops picture does not have enough contrast. Contrast is the ranges of colours starting with a very dark colour, to a very light colour. You have all mid range colours, no light, no dark, so it looks washed out. Best to go around the outlines with a dark colour, and make sure that the image is sharp, and not blurry. Then enhance the muscles with a light colour in the middle as a highlight. Dark to light.

Very ummm, interesting there with the sheep. You're right, the wool did come out pretty nice, more so around the cyclops.

I think that pic 2 is much nicer than pic 1, regardless of the time spent or detail level - I just don't think pic 1 is nearly as good as it could have been. Pic 2 to me looks dreamy, maybe more like an illustration, a definate style developing I agree - there's probably an artsy word for it.

One tip, if your drawing a character, only put them in poses that you can replicate yourself, that guy looks like he's in agony - if you can test the pose yourself then there is no mystery, and proportions are far easier to maintain. Why not grab a photo of yourself and try to replicate your pose with that character?, forgetting his sword, heck have it sticking out of a beast - the character is what is important, it's where the challenge lies. Studying muscle structures as well would be recommended, the skills are there, they just need sharpening.

Piccy 2 has the most promise. Try to look at the shadows particularly on the cyclops muscles. The sun must be to the front right of the picture going by the large shadow so use that as your reference.
I love the expression on his face, keep it up.

have a look at the dodge and burn tools in photoshop.
It will allow you to implement shadowing and depth.
