I watched the conference live last night (and they were an hour late starting as usual) and wasn't exactly blown away by anything.
Gran Turismo HD looked nice, but I hate racing games that don't involve cars with hood mounted guns. All that 'simulation' crap bores me to death. But it did look lovely, especially the Grand Canyon area.
Out of all the rest of the demos none of them stick in my mind at all! Other than perhaps Heavenly Sword, which looked totally awesome. And I did like the look of that dragon riding one too (Lair?).
Stealing the Wii controller isn't too bad, I mean Nintendo hardly invented it, motion sensor joypads have been around for years and years. The difference is that I bet Nintendo get the 'feel' of it right, because it has existed right from the very start of the console, whereas Sonys was 'tacked' onto the end.
The price was to be expected. £399 in the UK. That is quite expensive, but only marginally more than when the PS2 was first launched, and it never stopped me buying that pre-launch! What makes me think twice this time is the fact that I don't own an HD TV, and do not intend to buy one any time soon. Which makes me think 'what is the point?' of going for a console that is all-out HD built.
I liked the look of the PSP playing old PS games, but without the same dual shock set-up loads of games will not work properly, certainly a lot of my favourites
All in all, I think the real star of E3 will begin in 4 hours
and I can't wait...
