Well I just watched it.

They showed about using emulation to play PS1 games on PSP (so I really want a PSP now just for that)

World wide launch in - November japan nov 11 - US nov 17

They will only ship 2 million units world wide on launch (shortage)

Will ship with either 20gig hard drive for $499. or 60gig hard drive $599

and here is the new controller. Now, tilting the controller will actually move the character on screen, good for flight games. (People have been doing that since NES, it will finally do something now ) ==> Linkage

I’m serious that really is the new controller. Yes you are disappointed, but when you think about it. The Playstation controller has always been perfect, so why mess with it now. So ‘im actually happy about it.

$500-600 is kinda above what I'm willing to spend on games per year...

Heh heh, I can only guess where they got the idea for a controler that can sense tilt.

Sick x.x First, they rip off Nintendo, then lose one of their own designs. I guess that just goes to show how Nintendo is more of a next-gen system than the others, if you become copy/pasted, then you know you've got something good.

Well sony is just full of good news today >.<

you HAVE to get the 600 dollar system if you want the following

expand using Memory stick/SD cards/Compact flash
Wireless connection to internet/PSP
Ability to display signals Requiring the HDMI connector (anything Blu-Ray)
40 more gigs storage.

3rd page of this PDF shows the difference between the 500 and 600 dollar systems

That's because the components cost so much.

I sense a shift in the balance of the force... could it be the Empire and its Sith Lords of the dark side are finally falling? Could the light side of the force finally return with it's amazing controller and backwards compatibility?

Go Nintendo. They make great products (generally, can't say much in favor of sunshine) which I can afford.

I don't like how often Sony lied about their next gen graphics, and I haven't really had much love for them since the ps2 came out... And I'm no fan of Microsoft, or how they pretty much "bought" the second place title in the gaming industry. They lost what, $12 Billion to do it?

Sorry, but no. when you've got the 360 which has been out for about a year (when the ps3 comes out) and has a great lineup of games, and the ps3 is still only on launch titles and costs more, is there really much of a decision? They both have great graphics, and the Wii has more titles when it launches than the 360 or ps3 will ever made for them... not to mention the best price and gameplay overall...

edit:

which is exactly why this is the wrong generation to just make people pay for more of the same...

XBOX 36wii

I personally don't think it was a wise business move for PS3 to make such high cost components into their system, but it will push the industry ahead, which is where it needs to be going. However, the direction Nintendo seems to be going is completely off a tangent on that. They're single-handedly innovating the video game world (as they've always done), and showing that its not about graphics, its about innovation and fun. People buy video games for the fun, not for the graphics (except for everyone who bought Doom 3, myself included x.x), and that is really going to show once the Wii is released.

The 360 is impressive and immersive on a huge widescreen HDTV, but I still found myself having more fun playing Call of Duty 2 on a PC than on a 360. That's because you simply feel like you have more control on a PC game than a 360. There really needs to be some kind of an equal graphics to control ratio for it to be enjoyable. You wouldn't use a Mark XXI BlahBlah Super Aeroflight Joystick to play Pac-man, would you? Then why would you immerse yourself in a hard-to-control environment? Nintendo keeps it simple and reminds that its about fun and an equal control-graphics balance, not graphics so immersive that you cannot control as efficiently.

To quote Undercover Steven, Sony just lost.

Also - the Dualshock controller now has no shock...?

Yup no shock cause of the motion sensors for the tilt.

But that is funny if they call it the dual shock 3 yet it has no shock

I watched the conference live last night (and they were an hour late starting as usual) and wasn't exactly blown away by anything.

Gran Turismo HD looked nice, but I hate racing games that don't involve cars with hood mounted guns. All that 'simulation' crap bores me to death. But it did look lovely, especially the Grand Canyon area.

Out of all the rest of the demos none of them stick in my mind at all! Other than perhaps Heavenly Sword, which looked totally awesome. And I did like the look of that dragon riding one too (Lair?).

Stealing the Wii controller isn't too bad, I mean Nintendo hardly invented it, motion sensor joypads have been around for years and years. The difference is that I bet Nintendo get the 'feel' of it right, because it has existed right from the very start of the console, whereas Sonys was 'tacked' onto the end.

The price was to be expected. £399 in the UK. That is quite expensive, but only marginally more than when the PS2 was first launched, and it never stopped me buying that pre-launch! What makes me think twice this time is the fact that I don't own an HD TV, and do not intend to buy one any time soon. Which makes me think 'what is the point?' of going for a console that is all-out HD built.

I liked the look of the PSP playing old PS games, but without the same dual shock set-up loads of games will not work properly, certainly a lot of my favourites

All in all, I think the real star of E3 will begin in 4 hours and I can't wait...

I liked the look of the EyeToy enabled card game "Eye of Judgement" because the idea of augmented reality amuses me greatly.

However, I fear it'll be a one horse trick, and even being able to summon dragons to sit on my hand and bite at my finger may eventually get old.

The rest: meh. So much pre-rendered movie, so little gameplay footage.

That's actually not that much money. It's just one $50 game per mothn. : /

I'll probably buy it just for that. I'm sort of partial to dragons.

That's not a real controller, NeX.

As for this new 'tilt' system - what?? What possible purpose could it serve other than as a weak immitation of the Wii's functionality - which I already think is pretty damn stupid.

I know it's a mock.
It only uses accellorators anyway. The stuff used in shuttles in going in Nintendo's gyro controller.

Anyway, the Wii has two motion sensors, an accel and a gyro. It also has a speaker in one controller for unknown reasons.

True, but I don't buy a new game every month, and while I probably do spend over $600, I don't spend that much and then be able to buy anything else really. Nope. If I get any of the three, it will definitely be the Wii. Then I can finaly own all the classics and those awesome new games I just saw from the Nintendo Conference Vid too...
