Yes, very. You see, I am the king of the geeks and these forums are
actually named after me. Everyone pays tribute by bowing their heads and saying "for my lord, Matt Rock" every time they earn a kill in any game they play. And when it's a Battlefield kill, they hack the game just so they can send their points to my name and thus add more gold medals to my long list of career earnings... even though they aren't officially tracked... just to make me look better. "stuff" rolls down hill of course, so when I'm angry, those below me are angry, and when they're angry, they all gang up on you, and only you, because they can.
But seriously... as much as I hate to say this, this is the internet, and the internet is filled with meanies. I'm sure I'll catch flak for saying this (as I usually do), but most of the people who flame aren't satisfied with their real-life social status and thus they take it out on people in forums, chat rooms, messenger, what-have-you because it helps them feel a little impowered. It's the "big brother" syndrome, but effecting a global family. The harder someone flames you, the worse off they feel about their own position in life.
Or maybe they're just really, really mean.
Point is, as much as I wish everyone online would just get along, that can't always happen. And much like in the real world, some people on these forums like me, some people hate me, and the others don't really have an opinion (if in fact they even know me)... that doesn't bother me. What's great about these forums though is that when you have a problem, albeit a programming glitch that you can't repair or a personal matter that's causing despair (hehe, that rhymed), someone, usually more than one person, will be there to offer advice, to share their life experiences, and to post random gibberish*. That's pretty much how the internet works
* 1: It's usually me posting said gibberish, sorta like this post here
"In an interstellar burst, I'm back to save the universe"
