I'm not exactly sure where i should post this so, mods if this belongs somewhere else please move it thanks.

I was thinking and designing this for a while. Its a program that benchmarks your computer for performance with DBC or DBP games and it also rates the DBC or DBP games on how well they perform on various computers. It can be useful in many ways. It can help with people who want to make their apps code more effiecient and jus lets people kno how well their computers are performing up to the standards of db games.

Idk it was jus an idea that i thought was good.

Any comments or ellaborations?

a very usefull plugin or function set would be where you can read how many pixels are being filled and thus get the fillrate per sec in your app, and maybe if there was some archive of other benchmarks from other pc`s this way people could run this plugin in say a snapshot on some random frame and it calculates how much is being rendered and could tell you how much fps you are loosing from what can be done. though im sure something like this would be very very hard :p.

very*30 hard
iirc windows has no monitoring technique of individual pixels so I'm quite sure its impossible without going into driver development(drivers can do anything)

It might be useful as a beta testing plugin. Say, someone is testing your game, and it creates a benchmark report, including performance and errors. Then the tester could e-mail the standardized report to the game author.

maybe use it as a system req. test and if the framerate and such is bad enough then say that the game will be hard to play or something like that

The actual monitoring itself would use a lot of processing time, it wouldn't tell you anything useful.
