Well I recent purchased DarkBASIC Professional a little while ago. I started to learn the language and I created this game in a few hours. I've been tweaking it for about a day now. Please give me and suggestions or critisim you want.

The menu system is based off of the Binary Moon tutorial
The pedestrian sprite belongs to Nintendo Inc.

[Instructions]
Run over as many pedestrians you can within 20 seconds.
Scoring is based on your car's speed and the pedestrians speed.

[Controls]
Left / Right Arrow Keys : Steering
Up / Down Arrow Keys : Breaks / Forward / Reverse
Space Key : Hand Break
Escape Key : Quit Current Game

MickM, a really cute little game. Couldn't get that guitar track out of my head, though. Don't know if it's yours or not. Hope you don't mind, but I had to play with it a little just so I could get it off my mind and move on to other things. Here's a short.

Again, hope you don't mind...

Phaelax, did you unzip the program or just run it? I've included all the media for the entire game.. hmm ill try and hunt it down though incase of old code i had.

** My Line 39 has no image reference at all

However i do have an image above on line 35 but it is included.

Just One Old Man, yah not my guitar (mines outta tune so it be horrible).
Crazy work with the music, mind if I use it instead of what I got?

Not at all. Like I said, it just sounded like it should have something and I couldn't get back to work till I did it. Thought about going farther with it, but like I said I didn't know if it was yours or a loop from somewhere else. Have at it, and if I get time I'll fill it out a little more for a continuous run through the game...

Nice game! But I've found that if you go really fast almost horizontal across the screen, you get loads of points Also you should add some skidding or make them flip over when you turn too fast. Now that would be cool

I got 200 points.

There are three types of people, those that can count and those that can't.

MickM: Didn't get time yet to loop it for a game track, but had to spend another two minutes on it just because. Funny what you can do with one little loop. Throwing it up here for your amusement...

Updated the WIP (same download link as before)
http://www.gamestack.org/downloads/darkbasic/personal/pedestriankiller/pedestriankiller.zip

Items Added / Fixed
Increased run to 1 minute (60 seconds)
Incremental Score (Eye candy)
Highscore (Per machine/computer)
"Mario" can now come from any of the 4 edges
New music, big thanks to JOOM
Crates will now appear every 10 seconds making the game much harder
Added a Reset key "R". This will reset your car in a random place (incase you drive to fast and get stuck in a box)

I plan on releasing the code later on once I clean everything up. I'm pretty happy so far with the development of it as it's my first thing done in DB/DBPRO.

Thanks for the credit MickM. You didn't need to, but I appreciate it. It's a fun game, best I could do was only 385 though. Great timing on the music for the end of the round. Don't know if you know it, but the music doesn't play again if you play another round without exiting the game. Anyway, good stuff...

Joom,

Thanks for the bug, I'm at work so I don't have my head phone on.
I've fixed it and added some more eye candy at the start.

The menu makes me think about Binary Moon's game "Limit Rush"...

MickM: I was working on something else and wondered if you'd like something a little faster and heavier to add another level. For a one minute level I thought something like this might help the quick flow of the game. Maybe not, I just make 'em.

If you want to use this for another level feel free. If not, don't worry about it. Took me all of 10 minutes.

Thats what I said before my mouth dropped.

This is definitly a racing type of music. I'll be keeping this one in my library for other games that I will be making (if you don't mine, of course all credit to you).

I think you should get a job like Trent doing Quake music this stuff is crazy good in my ears.

Thanks Joom

Thanks Mick, but it actually wasn't much. I've been doing music a long time and that definitely isn't one of my better tracks, just a quick little speed thing I thought would give you some variety for another level. Feel free to use it.

I usually don't give out much music, but I thought the "Asteroids with a car and no bullets" game idea was a good one.

I actually don't stop by here too often, so I might lose track of where you are with this. If you add more to it maybe you could stop by my place and let me know so I can take a look. Have fun with the music...
