When I try to import a model into FPSC as a character it never works. Can someone please tell me how to make an entity a character so that I can actually see it. All I ever see is this...
I'm getting really frustrated because I've tried everything but nothing ever works

Here's what it looks like as a dynamic entity...

My character still shoots, moves, etc. but I just can't see it. Are the characters that come with FPSC in some kind of special format or something?

Edit: Could it be a texturing problem or would I be able to see the mesh still?

Duke, you need to give it a texture effect like bumpbone or something.

Open up an .Fpe from one of the stock models and use the pathway from there.

change it in the .fpe file then reopen it.

Nope didn't work. I also tried remaming my texture in the format mytexture_D2.tga but that didn't work either. Why isn't this working

try this: take a stock fpe file from ww2 say, then bring it to the user file. Only change the x file and the texture.

What is the visibility attribute set to?

Also, try bringing in Just the model and leave texture the same (stock) texture. In other words, try to isolate if it is a texture problem or a mesh problem.

Again make sure the texture effect is set to the proper pathway. perhaps Something like this:

;visualinfo
textured = blablabla.bmp
effect = effectbank\bumpbone\bumpbone.fx

@lilgamz
Thanks for your help thus far. I appreciate it very much. Here's the model I'm trying to make into a character. See if you can get it to work because I've tried everything and I just can't seem to do it.

Here ya go,

I wasnt able to do a very good job of assigning joins because of the overlap of hands and feet etc.

So I did a quick rigging job. He will do many of the fpsc actions, but it aint seamless.

That's great lilgamz! Thanks so much for all your help!
So if I want to get characters into FPSC I should get Milkshape and rig them myself. Is that how you do it?

Here is a better version of the model that is 8 times bigger and so it fits better to fpsc scale.

I hope that helps.

thats right milkshape is the key to it. but that frog isnt a very good one to work on because of the position of that arms in front of the legs.

In the double oops department the second one I sent is still too small.

But you get the idea.
