OK well im assuming that just about everyone on this forum has played videogames at sometime or rather so I want to know everyones personal views on who the cooles meanest or best of the videogame characters out there is. My personal favourite is Gordan Freeman, I mean who wouldnt want to be a rogue physicist with lots and lots of extremely powerful guns and mentally deranged aliens after him. Another close favourite is Mario, just because hes mario. Anyways want to know everyone elses opinion on who the truly baddest of the videogame characters are.
P.S. The unnamed marine from DooM is pretty cool but he doesnt have a name so I dont know if he counts.
Oh and the medic from battlefield two is one very cool guy but again I have no names so I dont think he counts.

The carpenter boss in Zelda 64. "KAAAAAAA!!!!" I would restart the game several times just to hear him scream the first time you talked to him. It was like a special occasion, not like Majora's Mask where everbody squeaked or squealed when you talked to them.

Erm. So a four eyed nerd in total mortal danger? Tops.

Quote: "Lara Croft"
More like it.

Personally I liked Usagi Yojimbo and Rex probably more than any other video game character (going back to Spectrum days though...). Who wouldn't want to be a Samurai rabbit or futuristic armed to the teeth Rhino? Much more like it

Quote: "Can we be a bit more serious then paddle one?"
Paddle two always looked the more brooding and serious if you ask me. Also, how in any way is this topic serious? I mean it's about video games. And which character you like. Erm. And if you make your own character which is a large bloke with a cigar and a big f**king gun called "Darge", then just a cop out IMHO. Robotic killer animals is the way to go my friend. Trust me.

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

Hero, from the TI-83 Plus game that I posted in Programming Talk. I mean what's more awesome than chasing a stationary X, or even a moving one, or even an effectively invisible moving one, or even two moving ones! That guy has the best job in the world.

A more interesting question would be who was your favourite baddie - the character you loved to hate. Or even, who was the most annoying character - I'm sure that would stir up some bile.

I dunno about this, I have a few.

Konoko (Oni), Lara Croft (Tomb Raider Series), Daxster (Jakk Series), Kameo (Kameo: Elements of Power), Jo Dark (Perfect Dark Series)...

There's just too many to choose just one from.

I'd have to pick laguna from FFVIII (I consider him more of a main character than Squall) purely for comedy value. Having said that, pretty much anyone from FFVII or VIII berring Cait Sith and Aerith. Sonics cool too though.

Without trying to take the thread on a random tangent...

OK favourite baddy now then Ok we can do that too. My favourites include Ganon from Zelda cause I just loved beating him up. I like Ocelot even though hes Technically not bad and I like Doctor Breen. Other memorable bad guys include the unnamed zombie from doom. Oh and I do believe there is one part in DooM when you find out his name but I cant remember it, its a voice recording or an email. Also on the baddies list is the terrorist from CS source, man I love to hate him and his CV 47.

TBH about Final Fantasy characters, the main characters usually seem quite bland and unalive. They've got a story behind them and along with them, but for the most part they're completely uncharacteristic. You rarely see character development in ANY Final Fantasy character, just more of something happened and they got over it. FFX would be closer to the exception, Square managed to give the characters development and depth with the cunning use of cutscenes. So basically that cast of FFX was the most developed and alive characters.

Favorite Good Guys:

Samus Aran
Mega Man X (when they don't give him a girly high pitched japenese kid voice)
Gordon Freeman, Alyx, and Dog
Kirby

... Its an all around tie for all the above

Favorite Baddies:

Bobombs...The original ones definitely. They were fun in Mario 3 in world 8. Never new when all those cannons would hit you, then the bobombs were always sneaking up and exploding while you tried to use one as a weapon. Frustrating when your young...
