Hi. We (Red Star Software) are currently in the process of writing an FPS (Not actually using FPSC, but that's not the point of this post, and I wont plug it here, unless anyones interested)

The point being I've spent the last 2 months (pretty much 12 hours a day) and have a wide array of objedts.. some of them useful for our game, and some of them not..

I am hence considering giving a few of them away, and possibly selling a pack of some more.. for now heres a single screen shot of one of the more basic ones..

More screen shots available on request

And also I was wondering if regular user of FPSC could tell me how many polys theyd tend to use for various objects, and how high quality textures they would use.. Just so I know wheter these will be too high or not (I have low LOD versions of a lot of stuff)

Cheers

High as possible textures

and anywhere from
10polys to about 3k per model...

but once you get around 8k it will drag down the speed

i remember one time i put 3 40k poly objects in a lvl and fpsc couldnt handle it hehe

Cool cheers.. thats on a 512x512 texture, with a 580 odd poly object... I can bring that right down to 200 odd for a lower detail one, but don't know if you can easily LOD things in FPSC.

Heres another one which I may not have a use for.

308 poly with a mere 256x256 texture, but quite pleased with the texturing on this one.

(The M18A1 Claymore Antipersonnel Mine)

Here is one of the more complicated ones I have made, (and this one really did take a long time)

It's the famous Colt M16A2, and is still untextured at the moment.

It's a possibly slightly high 2400 polys, but does have a lot of extra functionality over many models I've seen, including having a modelled chamber and bolt, and working cocking arm. The trigger works, as does the 'unjamming button' and clip release button. In fact the small black bar under the trigger guard, which is designed to allow the user to operate the gun effectivly whilst wearing winter gloves flaps back as it should.

The upper reciever folds forward, allowing the gun to be field stripped for cleaning, exactly as the real gun does. The clip is the right size and design to accept 30 rounds, and the gun currently has a 5.56mm NATO Full Metal Jacket Softened Core round loaded into it.

The fire select moves around to the 3 points as it should, and I'm currently finishing off the sighting unit which is adjustable at the front and rear to allow the gun to fire for various functions, such as a more accurate 'sniper' role as well as it's normal assault rifle function.

I've however come to a point where I'm running out of ideas for a new range of guns to model, so I was wondereing what kind of guns do you all prefer in FPS'.

- Dedicated Sniper Rifles (High velocity, bolt action rifles)
- Shotguns (As seperate guns, or as the undergun accesory, same as the M203)
- Grenade Launchers (Usually timed, altough I would consider an airburst version)
- Rocket Launchers (RPG's or LAW style)
- Revolvers (High Caliber, usually armour piercing)
- LMG (Automatic only, heavy and difficult to weild, but very high powered and with a large box style ammo clip)
- If I've missed a type you'd like to see, please just say.

I am working on these myself, so it takes a while to make each. All suggestions and comments very welcome. Thanks again!

hehe. Ahhh the claymore.. As it says on the blurb that (used to) come with it, contains a layer of packed C4 and 700 galvanised steel balls.

Cheers for the support with those objects, heres a couple more I've done too.

Firstly the M79 Single Shot 40mm Grenade Launcher.
