Hi all,

As some of you already know my wife gave birth to our first child on Friday the 12th of May. He is called Thomas (my wife wouldn't allow Atari!). I am now on paternity leave, but shall be back here shortly. Here is a picture of him (just over 24 hours old), I figured this was a most suitable image given the t-shirt I'm wearing and it's meaning

Cheers,

Rich

The only thing I'm seeing is old ladies stopping him in the street looking into the pram patronising him saying 'aww what a cute baby' and then my particularly strange imagination has Thomas growing tentacles, grabbing them and eating them whole....then again I am strange

Welcome to Fatherhood! It's a whole new world! Good luck with those first few weeks. I really don't think it starts to get easier after that, I think it is more a case of getting numb to it.

Congatulations!

have fun with the baby! having multiple little siblings go through babyhood, I can say with reasonable assurance this will be tiring, Exhilerating, Rewarding, and difficult. Make it geeky!

Congratulations! Parenthood is certainly a new experience. Unfortunately, the experience is permanent. I should know, I've got four. Stop at two!!! Then they can play with each other and you can kind of ignore them.

Your much better off with the name Thomas than Atari Rich, everyone knows Atari is a girls name.

Cute baby - those tiny little hands are perfect for...

Congratulations

Now here comes the voice of experience: For the next few weeks at least, do not be tempted to play a game for "just a few more minutes" that takes you past midnight. I will guarantee that the moment your head hits the pillow, the baby will wake up.

Next thing: Breast feeding is good, encourage your wife at every opportunity. There is only one person in the house that can do that at 3 o'clock in the morning

I always felt a bit guilty about that, but not too guilty. Now that the baby is off the breast I'll bottle feed at night, but he doesn't wake up that often now.

I showed my girlfriend this thread last night, thinking that somehow she'd see the geeky humour in the "1Up" T-Shirt. Instead, it backfired horribly and she was fawning over the baby picture for 10 minutes, followed by "I want one".

Lol cute baby. Why not give him the name Link though? Come on there´s still time while you haven´t got used to the name Thomas. Or maybe Mario would be more apropriate with that outfit.
Hell why not. Call him Wii.

Call him Wii? Isn't that what the baby does every 10 minutes? How could Rich call Thomas such a dumb name like that, Wii?

Yeah I know what you meant, flyin' low. Why were you looking down there in the first place, for goodness sakes, the baby is barely 5 days old. Sheesh.

Congratulations On first looking at the picture, I found my self looking at your hands, and then scrolled down. Only later did I realise I forgot to look at the baby!
Pass on the congratulations to your wife, and I hope you guys manage to get some sleep!
