Hi, I'm looking to find better placeholder sounds for my platform game, Old school. The ones from the dbc media archive kinda suck, and I'd like to be able to listen to something more pleasant until I get the final sounds made. Does anyone know where I could get a bunch of free sounds that would go well in a platformer?
Yes I've checked Google, but I'm really having trouble finding what I want. Mostly jump, skid, explode, die, and hurt sounds. There are a few others, but those are the kind of sounds I'm looking for.

If you're not sure what Old School is, you can see the most current thread here:http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=73086&b=8, or download the very early beta demo from the bottom of this post. Controls are up to jump, down to duck or dive if you're in the air and moving or smash if you've got a hammer out, left/right keys to move, and ctrl to use or put away the hammer if you have it. Remember, this is a very early demo, and the screens on later pages of the thread show a better picture of what the game is like now.

I'm only looking for better placeholders, so the sounds don't have to be freeware.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Edit: looking at this, it looks kinda noobish, but I'm really
desperate. I've waited quite a bit before resorting to this.

Edit2: Never mind, I found some good placeholder sounds.
If you're interested in old school though, check the thread for updates and download the current demo.

theres heaps more but thats enough to get started.

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself 

download the trial and i believe it has a LOT of sound effects. Most are retro old school style and come in handy and its also really good software for making music loops

Heh, an hour after posting this, I got on the computer and opened up the internet again, and immediately found a site with pretty much every Mario sound ever... well, at least the ones I wanted. They make much better placeholders than what I was using. Oh well. If anyone hasn't seen Old School yet, check out the thread on the wip board... I'll probably have a new demo soon...

Thanks mouse, I'll look into that.
