Anyone here expert of vid card?
I am trying to find a AGP card that is capable of running few of the new games that are out. I am not sure if they still make AGP card, cus everywhere I see is like PCI-e cards, its really annoying lol. I dont want to upgrade cus its practically buying a new PC, and I am dirt broke...lol. Any ideas? lol

Nack. Because if he has a not so good CPU and RAM then its not worth purchasing a real good AGP card like the last of the great 7800GS AGP which is god but isnt worth it or he should just get a 9600XT or something cheap.

If you want something that will run almost anything modern at least on low detail settings, go ang get yourself an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro.

@nack-

Do you have decent cooling on the P4 because then I would recommend a little OC on it to 2.6 or 7.

What is your price range for a new card?

I just recently picked up a 6200 128mb for my pIII, works great for the games I play. Halo runs on highest settings, no problem. Quake 4 multiplayer runs with the lowest settings at about 20 fps, but the holdup is my motherboard/processor. Through NewEgg, it was only 52 usd after shipping, too.

thx for input guys!
Nvidia 6800...hmm....think it will run Oblivion? lol
I have tried to run Oblivion on a FX5600, but it lag so much its unplayable. I turned graphic way down and yet it still lag. So annoying.

@Modest Mouse
I got a pretty good cooling system, i OCed it once, but never really see the difference...so i revert it back lol.
I dont mind the price price, as long as its not like....$500+, then it should be manageable with a few parttime job lol.
So the question re-worded i guess is...which AGP card can make me run Oblivion like a beast LOL (...well at least to the point where its playable )

Well are you willing to pay somewhere in the price range of 200-300 dollars or 100-200?

The 7800GS will run the game like a beast and the 6800GT will run it decently. I never had tested it on an x850xt PE thought which is what I have. And if you are willing to pay the money its good because in 2 years if you still want to keep your card but upgrade your motherboard and CPU, you can get the Asrock DualSataII AGP and PCI-E motherboard which is what I have. It runs AGP cards and PCI-E cards and supports DualCore CPU's, Athlon 64, FX, and Opterons. And its onl $60. I use it and its amazing!

I play oblivion with moderate graphics settings on a nvidia 6600GT with no problems or lag. Tweaking all the settings up to maximum will cause a bit of lag when turning quickly though. P4 2.4ghz and 2gigs ram.
