luuckily my father has been in computing since i was born, he knows quite a bit on hardware and has always been one to test out new software

Quote: "Actually I find Photoshop a bit confusing"

near all advanced graphics editing software is confusing (keyword: ADVANCED, not MS paint, lol) to start off with, because alot of tools built in are just jibberish and nice effects the developer felt like throwing in.

but in the end, its just a case of knowing what button does what, and how it will effect your image, then, its just up to you and your mouse

alot of people skip time making textures, one of the most time consuming acts of computing is texturing, not to mention UV mapping, i know it can be very annoying spending around about 1-2 hours texturing a character, but the end result is worth it

we use CorelDRAW and CorelPAINT at school, they are alright, but personally they take too long to do the simple things...

you should take some time to learn the interface, load an image, and muck around with the tools on the toolbar to the left

also, you can do some neat things to images, using filters, on the top bar

Hi, Jon

I attached one of your images for the FPS Creator Screen Shot Competition. I know you won't tell your secrets to anyone:
Quote: "practice and learn as much tools as you can and you will find it quite simple"
But this image looks like it came from a next-gen console!

- How could you do this breathtaking light conditions?
- Is every tree a seperate entity?
- Are these reflections and the transparency of the water surface in the texture or in the lightmaps?

Hi, Jon

Is this really an in-game screenshot or is it rendered in an external 3d-program?

no Higgins its in game. notice that there is no anti-aliasing, which by default, i always render in

Quote: "- How could you do this breathtaking light conditions?"

really, alot of it is just textures which i have edited and brushed over with the dodge tool in photoshop

Quote: "Is every tree a seperate entity?"

yes, i tested some trees posted a while back ingame, i just place them into the terrain.

Quote: "- Are these reflections and the transparency of the water surface in the texture or in the lightmaps? "

alot is in the texture, as i stated above, the transparency of the water is a .tga when you get up close, you can notice the transparency, far away, it blends to a solid texture for some reason...

Quote: "But this image looks like it came from a next-gen console!

not really, it isnt that brilliant, i use displacment maps on large planes in 3ds max, giving me the ability to create terrain from heightmaps, as an editable mesh, i then use a large texture to go over the terrain

yes, i am making a model pack, but unfortunately it will not be free, the amount of work and time shows this. the pack is the next volume of CorePak and will feature characters, guns, melee weapons and lots of entities

just to fill you in...

Hey Jon, are you going with the idea of making both the weapons and the characters seperate packs? If so or not, what do you think the price will be?

yeh, they probably will end up seperate, and then all together it will probably be about £20

as ive said before, im not completely sure on the finance issues, all in time, will they be resolved, i will work out everything when the models are done
