Newcomers DBPro Corner / Runtime error 1514 24 bit depth not supported

"Runtime error 1514 24 bit depth not supported. Select either 16 or 32 bit mode at line 0".
This comes up on running the exe programme on a different computer to the one the prog is compiled on.
Even with a simple 'load bitmap "test.bmp":suspend for key'. The bmp is a 32X32 1 colour bitmap 8bit/256 (attached) ie no 24 bit in sight.
Can anyone tell me why??

Please do not cross post across the boards. Asking in one place is enough. I answered your question in the other thread, not all graphics cards support 24-bit mode.

The program isn't in 24-bit mode though. That's the point, it's complaining about a mode that it isn't in.

My abject apologies for cross-posting, and thaks for the replies Phaelax and BatVink.
However,no-one hs solved the problem - why error 1514 when I am not using a 24-bit bitmap?

Well what is the default mode for DB Pro? If it's 24bit then yeah, your in 24bit mode.

default mode is 16 i believe. I haven't seen this problem since DBC with my voodoo card.

Thank you for all the advice! It is now working OK, by changing the display parameters in the Control Panel of the target computer to 16 bit (24-bit was selected before).
This was necessary even if I compiled with the command "set display mode 800,600,16".
Most peculiar - you would think the display mode in the target computer would be irrelevant as DBasic prog is changing it?

Just to finish - (Bluestar4) - I checked, and the target computer probably has an old card, it was set to 24 bit when it gave the error 1514, and it could be set at 800,600,16 resolution which is what I programmed in DBasic. It does have DirectX 9.0c.
Many people have problems, I am told, with such old cards; they often only accept square textures!
