Newcomers DBPro Corner / darkbasic lite problem

hi guys!
i'm a newbie at this
i recently bought this Game programming starter kit 6.0,

it has this certain program called darkbasic lite, now every time i run it, this message comes up:
System error: Directinput could not be initialised. failed to create directinput mouse device

dis is quite a prob for me 'cuz i'm startin from scratch....

make sure you have direct x 8.1 installed

i don't know if the problem will persist in the future,
but my according to my dxdiag,
