2D All the way! / <GIMP Question> How do I make it so my animations don't have a box around them?

I'm new to The GIMP, so I dunno how to fix this problem. I have a sprite sheet with a grey backround, and on GIMP I have a grey checkered backround. I copy + paste the image I want to animate, and I get a grey box around him, so my theory is that this box will appear if I use this sprite in my game. So then, how do I dispose of this box and get the animation to show only the image in a game?

GIMP is a 2D animation program, if you search it on google you'll find it. It's free

In DB Classic colour 0,0,0 is transparent. In DB Pro there is a command to use any colour as transparent. I can't remember what the command is though.

Care to post a pic of what you've got there? Btw, the command in dbpro is "set image colorkey".

It's not exactly an animation program, more like a free alternative to the overpriced Photoshop.

Normally, copying and pasting alpha-channel images will discard the alpha channel unless the program is designed a special way. In Paint Shop Pro, I can copy and paste alpha-channel images correctly between other images in the same program. But if I try to paste them into another program, I get a white box in the transparent areas.

And alpha-channel images can be used in DarkBASIC. You can save as a PNG file and use that.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
1GB DDR-SDRAM (May increase to 2GB one day)
512MB ATI Radeon X1800 Series - Finally! A card that does pixel shaders correctly!
