Two japanese girls have moved downstairs with two laptops in full japXP.
I dont want to google but i will if the information provided is useless.

For those DB users who use another language on your system, do you have dual languages installed? how easy is this to do? I have never come across having to add another language, especially having a hot young thing show me what the translation textual buttons are

so my question is to the people who have another language installed and possibly english as well, what should i do to go about getting the machine in english?.

dont reply unless you have dual languages, it aint worth your time to write something thats not commedian-esque.

I didn't think Windows COULD be dual-language? Sure you can have as many character sets as you like installed, I have the full range of extended Asian / Japanese / Chinese on mine (so I can test the Japanese DBPro site out), but XP itself is in English. I would imagine it's the same for a Japanese copy of XP, i.e. you could install English characters sets, but I doubt very much you could switch the OS language itself on the fly - but hey, it'd be cool if you could

I have a Japanese friend who only has Japanese Windows XP on his machine, and he can't switch the language without re-installing an Enlgish version of XP. So as far as me and him know, you can't have dual language support.

thanks guys, i guess i have to stick with getting it translated, guessing where the next and finish buttons are becoming a little easier, even a game unto itself, only because of the background history of knowing whats coming next can i guess where buttons are.

I will try some things tomorrow in regards to getting some english type of compatability.

my mac can switch on the fly and a long time ago "moto" my jap m8 from sydney installed something on a previous win98se install that allowed my english version to display kanji. i think thats how you spell it.

anyway i appreciate the help, I rarely ask for help because im too proud to admit sometimes i cant do it. indi has faults.

I bought them both netgear lappie 108mpbs so i didint have to run an ethernet downstairs as it affects my insurance liability.

they will pay me back in time. they both have bfs, im not a sleazy freak, i try to help people who come into my life but this problem stumped me. rarely do i get stumped.

thanks for the advice, I really do appreciate the input if i come across grumpy sometimes.

I got both to work, finally binding the mac addresses and slowly having it translated button for button line for line. holy cow, never share your intarweb with people whos os's are like in another language!!!.
unless you like true torment for a few nights, which i seem to do.

luckily the other installs to remove spyware etc. could be loaded in english phew.

Ahh, pretty sure you can switch between languages, no more troublesome than switching users.

You do need a special version of XP though, for the multilingual stuff.

We have a Chinese girl in marketting with a Chinese laptop and a dual-lang desktop - I hate doing anything on those PC's.

yeah i trawled for language switching for ages, but it was a true jap only xp so i was out of luck. if it was english to start with i would of been ok and loaded njstar for the characters or something. even the kayboards have japanese characters under the english keys. quite an eye opener.

I remember doing this for my wife's computer when I first met her. The worst of it all was she was using a Chinese version of Windows ME, of which I could not for the life of me find how to change it to English.

I eventually had to format and reinstall Win2k on there

my pc used to have japanese winxp on it, but after getting tired of the font and all software trying to be clever and installing in japanese i reformatted and got an english/us ver and im fine with it now.

Hallowed are the ori.
