I am very new to this package and only got it this week.
Here is my problem:

I have a room with a guard facing the corner. When the player steps onto a trigger square, I want the guard to 'hear' the player and turn around and start shooting etc. Until then, I need the guard to be static.

how about...this.

put this inside of the script called shoot and put it above
the first line that starts with ":state=0,".
This should work. It will only trigger him if you are in his range of view.(he's facing the wall) or if you are in a certain distance from him.

P.S. I don't know how far you want him to notice the player so play around with the number 400 to fit what you want.
