Can anyone help me im am currently on one of my crusader projects on making a tree its so simple yet...so hard all i want is to make a sylinder with ball on top which makes a tree my parents would be happy with that EVEN! But yet again i am having trouble making it thin so it looks like a tree so I may place a ball on top.
Thanks!

i woudlnt use primatives in dark basic myself i would use tree magic to make them or use ones that come with dark basic or another moddeler. i have never found using darkbasic primatives effectivly very easy.

Actually over making a model in DB I would take an image of a tree (with a black background) and put it on a plain then set transparency on and set it to rotate to camera position

Your cylinder is too fat? You want to scale it in the Y.

That will make you your cylinder and make it 'taller' in the Y direction than the other two directions. 100 is 100%, so 500 is 500% (i.e. 5 times bigger).

Good luck with your tree.

I modeled a tree, it was my first object that I had ever modeled...
It was in Wings 3d.
What I did was I took the cylinder and kept streching it, and deforming it. Then I made other cylinders for the other branches. Then I made some dodecahedron or somthing like that and placed it on the branchs.

Alas, I believe I have lost the model...
However making a tree like that inside of darkbasic will be neigh impossible, that is until someone makes a modeler in darkbasic.

There is a UV mapper inside wings...
#1 Select one of your objects
#2 Right Click and click on "UV MAPPING"
#3 Then select sides (in the new window) to split the model for UV mapping. Once that is done right click and hit mark edges for cut.
#4 Right Click and click on the button above "segment by" (I cant read it there is a problem with my computer)Then select one of the options. Test it out and figure out which one works best with your model...
#5 Right click and select "create texture"
#6 Go back to the main model, dont exit out of the UV Mapping screen. Then open up the outliner.
#7 Select that texture by right clicking and click make external. Then open it up in The Gimp or someother image editing program.
#8 Save you image as the same name in the image editing program to replace that image. Then go back to wings 3d and to the outliner and right click. Select "REFRESH"
(Speaking of refresh this is what a battery charger from China said..."(Refreshing 4 hours are the best. needing 4 batteries. puts in to refresh the box then can refresh)" No joke...)
Then the texture on your image will be updated....

JPGS!!!!!!!!!! Its not that hard to do in paint...just change the fil

To make the sword thinner you will have to move the vertices..by editing a cube. Just bump out one side to make it longer and then edit the cube.

arrg...it didnt post my post...

The basic idea of my post was to read tutorials by people. Such as at [href]poopinmymouth.com[/href]. Use google its your best friend.

Also if you have no idea what to model try looking in the 3d demsional chat section of the forums, there are always contests going on for who can make the best _____ model.

And the last thing I was going to say before my post disappeared....was that: It doesnt matter how many polygons you have on your model, lower is best. It is however the texture that makes the model.

By the way how do you make it so that you just have the model nothing else like when its rendered and nothing else is behind it its just that theres nothing else in the back round like how you did it when you showed that sword and saved it. Im again confuzed .
