I discovered a magazine in my local WHSmith (a UK newsagent, in case the US'ers were wondering) called
Imagine FX - it's all about fantasy/sci-fi 2d digital art!
It's a beautiful magazine (I got the collectors edition of issue 5) with lots of interviews with professional film and game concept artists on how they work. It's got tutorials on different techniques (uses Photoshop 95% of the time, with a little Painter) and even a question and answers page on achieving different looks (for example, one question was - how do I make an image look like an old photograph, another question was how to I get good looking specular highlights on wet skin.)
It seems to be fairly new, so I wanted to draw (har har) people's attention to it. While I'm not a concept artist, I loved reading it - and it's got enough eye candy for anyone!
Other highlights - an article on weapon design for films/games, free photoshop brushes on the DVD, the psd files for all the tutorial images so you can see the layers, how to draw mechs, and reviews of the latest art software and tablets.
Awsome stuff, I'll be looking forward to getting the next issue. I might even look out that old tablet and remind myself why I don't draw
They do have a website
Imagine FX but there's not much there yet - apparently they're going to be rolling out a decent one soon with downloads and source-material trading for artists.
Just so you know, I am in no way affiliated with Imagine FX magazine, or anything to do with it. I just like it!
[edit]Bother - I misstyped Fantasy in the title. Doh!
