hi,

I haven't done much in the last couple of months...
I like to make quick, lite and simple games.. and this certainly fits the bill.
it's called Daft Ski... and as it suggests, it's a ski game..
downhill slalem to be precise.
here are three screenshots

my oldest daughter says there should be a "choose a skier" feature...
what do you think?
she also says the music is annoying... (she's very critical)(but a wonderful game tester)
what do you think?

if you could play it I'd be thrilled to bits...

I think I've got rid of the bugs... please tell me if you find more.

here's the link:

enjoy... and please comment

miki

ps.
it's not finished... i really need to make the graphics better and add whatever extra functions may be needed... but it is a working sub-version...

source included

Actually, a quite nice game! You say that it is supposed to be a small game, so I won't comment on the amount of content in the game.

I have three main things that I think needs to be improved(except for the graphics, as you are mentioning them yourself ):

Move the camera a little up. I think it can be a little hard to really see anything, because the camera is too close to the ground.

Make turning a little bit slower. I often turned around and stopped when I wanted to just turn a little bit.

The flags could be spread out a little more. They're pretty much standing on a line all the way down, it seems.

But a pretty fun game! When you upgrade the visuals, this game will really become quite enjoyable!

a quick update on progress...

as mentioned earlier did what Freddy suggested ... and

1. added mountains both sides and at the finish line.
2. added trees both sides.
3. uploaded this version to my server... only 3.27mb.

That really helped! The game looks much better now, IMO. But I have to complain about the sky you're using(it's never perfect ), it looks really 'MS Paint', you know?

But great game!

The volume of the audio needs to be turned up. I normally have my computer's Master Volume on 6/10 full, which is comfortable for most games. For this game I have to turn the volume all the way up, and it's still a bit too quiet.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
1GB DDR-SDRAM (May increase to 2GB one day)
512MB ATI Radeon X1800 Series - Finally! A card that does pixel shaders correctly!

hi again,

firstly, thanks for all the tips to make daft ski better...

next. Freddy, you're right! the sky is ms paint....
the new upgraded version has a sky box with an adaptation of the sky from "the hay wayne", by Constable...
here's a screeny:

nothing like from one extreme to the other...eh?

and.... FoxBlitzz. I've increased all the audio volumes by %164...
(I'm always a bit wary of blasting folks with too much volume...)
thanks for the tip...

apart from that, Pwnage, thanks for trying out the game. I hope you liked it...

once again... thanks for all your help and interest...

Store the mouse move value in a # type var first, then divide that by whatever you need to divide it by. It will be MUCH smoother.
DBC automatically turns it into an integer otherwise.

No prob
Also, you should change it so that it doesn't save files to your desktop, but make a folder in my documents to save it to.

Apart from that it is really good and funny
