Hey Guys,

I am using the following code and I cannot get this .3ds model to load. I have attached the model to this post to see if you can get it to work. I cannot for the life of me figure out why it doesn't work. The code works fine if I replace the model with a cube.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Mike

some 3DS files (in fact many) do not work with DBP. I don't know why, i assume it is to do with different versions of the 3ds format. i would recommend using a different app to convert the 3ds file to a .x file (or maybe even to a dbo from there on if you want faster loading times)

Try this. I just imported into 3ds max and exported with the panda plugin.

Hope it works.

The problem is the 3DS model. DBPro cannot import this. I converted it to a DirectX .X file and your code now works fine. X version attached.

Cheers,

Rich

Very impressive haha. I've been able to load .3ds files in DBP however. Maybe patch U6.1 updated the format, and you're using an older version. However, due to the structure of .3ds files, they have huge amounts of data chunks that take a long time to load, and I don't think DBP is optimized for very well for the .3ds file format(It's optimized for .X and .DBO files, two better formats to use anyway).

I have downloaded LithUnwrap but when trying to import a .3ds file it tells me the file type is not supported. X Trade do you have a different version of this software to me?

Edit - In my stupidity I didnt see the open command and I was using the import command instead. Silly me

Thanks for your time,

Mike

X Trade, can you offer any tips on texturing 3D models and then importing them into DBPro. Basically I am having trouble getting this death star model to import into DBPro.
