Correct if Im wrong but the subject is veeery misleading:
It's not PC getting viruses (it's windows...), and Mac is a PC (Personal Computer, allthought non IBM-compatible)

I would like to see these people who believe they are invisible macs.

And either way... they fail to mention the fact that the reason that mac doesn't get windows virus' is because 'pause' it doesn't run windows programs 'shock'. (okay, probally can emulate, but then file io worms should work).

Lets put this into a practical example.

Yo dude did you download that illegal torrent I sent you?
Yeah, but I have a mac so it won't run
Lucky you, I have windows and it had a virus... my system is totaled dude.

@Phaelax:
So these owners now believe they are invincible macs...
So that is where the comercal people come from! They are actual users who 'believe' they are macs.
jk.

I know a guy who really is a mac boy. He understands that the majority of virus' are made for windows, but he refuses the fact that there are virus' for mac and that they can be made. Something about the code being 'perfect' same for firefox... the code is perfect and any hole is 'instantly discovered and patched'

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself 

Hehehe, that sucked.

Just out of interest, has anyone here ever actually had a PC vs MAC discussion in real life with a real life MAC owner?

That crud hasn't been popular since 1985, I know I'm a chief instigator of playground hardware cockfights. The ST vs Amiga war of the early 90's lost me the use of my sarcastic voice. There are no victories, just chumps wishing they had'nt listened to the daywalkers at Dixons.

Lol, the only problem with apple mac is that apple controlls all the upgrades. I watched the gadget show, where someone pushed a PC and an apple mac out of a window, and then set about repairing them. They quickly came to the conclusion that it was cheaper to buy a nice new apple mac then get it repaired, while the PC was repaired for a few hundred pounds. It wasn't because the PC sustained less damage, it was simply that the spare parts supplier (apple) charged so much it wasn't worth it.

Also Apple macs are now using x86 based intel processors. They can also run windows XP... no so virus free now I feel.

PC rules the world, because IBM forgot to register it's trademarks, this ment that PC's could be cloned, and manufactures of all shapes and sizes can supply parts for it. This basically means that most of the IT community is developing hardware for the PC and there's real choice. The apple though is pretty limited.

Your signature has been erased by a mod because it's larger than 600x120...

Once, but it was more slagging and general abuse than a discussion.

Sounds like something an ST-owning chump would say ...

It's ok Rich I'm loading the gun...

- yeah, I admit that I hated the guys in pretty much every computer store, Amiga fanboys every one.
[back in the day it made sense for my mates to own the same machine as me ].

Thing is though, Atari still has real fanboys, Amiga owners seem to have slipped onto the PC scene without so much as a guilty smirk, while Atari users are much more adamant and lofty - heck the Falcon could still wipe out the PC!, and you know it!.

We do know the Amiga was better for games, but we also know the ST was just better .

That is soooooo wrong!!! The issue was that numerics could not be trademarked. The numbers "286", "386" and "486" were non-trademarkable, hence the move to "Pentium" chips by Intel, using an alphanumeric format that a trademark could be applied to.

That's a primary factor in the death of Cyrix, who continued with the x86 naming, whereas AMD released the K* range of chips and rebranded themselves to survive (as well as selling their processors cheaper).

The Atari's midi port certainly made it attractive to musicians, but the chipset and software for the Amiga was better... sorry. Especially when you moved up to the A3000 and A4000. The A3000 was also the hardware inside those Virtuality (virtual reality) arcade machines which were around a long time ago - you know, the ones with the headsets that left you with whiplash?

Saying that, I don't know anyone who still uses their Amiga (I own two but don't use them) but I do know someone who still uses their ST for sequencing occasionally.

Just out of interest, I used to work for a main distributor for Commodore and the A1500 and A2000 were the same machine. If we ran out of one we just changed the stickers on the other and bundled it with different software. Those were the days...

The Archimides was the best computer - after the C64, of course.

It has BASIC built-in, was a RISC processor, machine code was easy to write, and it was fast...

Your just as wrong as he is. The first ibm pc clones started appearing in 1982. The only part ibm had control over was the bios which was clean room reversed engineered. Ibm didn't have control over other parts like the os or cpu. Microsoft and intel where pefectly happy to sell to people making the clones.

By way of demonstration, he emitted a batlike squeak that was indeed bothersome.
