I have tried to set up AI teams using named groups and such like.
i.e. tried getting one enemy to attack another. Moveing in association with the player and shooting in a random way with some control of general rotational values apparently as an ally is reasonably easy to achieve. Its the exact specific bit which is the difficult part.
I have not finished looking at this but :
As I can see to date its impossible to actually get one enemy to target another as such - but I may be wrong - though its very unlikely. The engine will not allow an enemy to target anything else when shooting other than the player - thats all thats recongnised as a target. Anything else specified as a target will be ignored. So you have to try some trickery which thus far with me at least is less than acceptable.
You can achieve a level of apparent ally behaviour minus the specific targeting while shooting/attacking of another entity.
Any further research into this is more or less a waste of time until we see what the update brings in my opinion.
Just hang on in there a while, unless you dont mind the effort and dont have more productive stuff to do.
