Could anybody here do a script like he doesn't shoot you but like "shoot entityname: ____"(that's not real code there I know) ...And name the all the characters that name. Even though I've heard it doesn't hurt the entity, I want to be able to LOOK like you have allies. Help please? I can't code yet..

I had a similar idea:

Give numbers to certain object,
1=player
2=Allied entity
3=Enemy Entity

Then make a hieracy like this:
= is allied
= is enemy
-1--2--3
1/
2 /
3 /

But i doubt it would work...

You pretty much need to re-code FPSC to allow allies. Its written in DBpro but i don't know if even DBpro supports allies...

C++ for teh win!

That is not necessairly true.There are a lot of changes and way around the shortcomings of FPSC if you try.
It is just that nobody has figured out a way to do it yet.
There are already scripts in this forum which make characters friendly so they don't fire at you,etc.
Just about everything can be overcome with tenacity and a little imagination.
Keeping a positive attitude is the first step in overcoming any obstacle.

I have tried to set up AI teams using named groups and such like.

i.e. tried getting one enemy to attack another. Moveing in association with the player and shooting in a random way with some control of general rotational values apparently as an ally is reasonably easy to achieve. Its the exact specific bit which is the difficult part.

I have not finished looking at this but :

As I can see to date its impossible to actually get one enemy to target another as such - but I may be wrong - though its very unlikely. The engine will not allow an enemy to target anything else when shooting other than the player - thats all thats recongnised as a target. Anything else specified as a target will be ignored. So you have to try some trickery which thus far with me at least is less than acceptable.

You can achieve a level of apparent ally behaviour minus the specific targeting while shooting/attacking of another entity.

Any further research into this is more or less a waste of time until we see what the update brings in my opinion.

Just hang on in there a while, unless you dont mind the effort and dont have more productive stuff to do.

i just want an ally script where it's like when you go into a room they follow u in and go behind some things or go prone and fire at enemies, i don't care if it doesn't hurt them, i just want it to be like that, and the enmies can't hurt allies either. that'd be ok for me
