Alright, Echo the Dolphin was a game back from sega. Who believes they could create a game the same or better than this game? My brother seems to believe that darkbasic pro can't produce jack, even though I have clearly shown him otherwise. But I do believe people could create a better game than that with dbp. Who else thinks this?

all ben needs is his band, his guitar, and his computer

I had fun playing Echo the Dolphin, back when it was first out; years ago.

Ive seen games made with DB and I think making a game like Echo the Dolphin will be 100% do-able.

That was my opinion as well. Thankyou for your responses. And I know that the Blackout game was quite a lot better than most games out right now. That was a good game. From the looks of it,it could go a long way.

Thats a point to Echo? I thought I just swam around and ate fish.

He also devoured children who swam out too far into the ocean.

@Megaton Cat: I laughed my puddings to death when I read what you put here! It is nice to see that the good-old-school game's name is being spelled progperlie.

"Ecco the Dolphin." [ic:dolphin] (will it work?)

EDIT... guess not. But I actually aproached the concept of remaking it a couple years back. Sadly my computer has been formatted and I've also switched PCs a couple times, and it got lost somewhere in between. I didn't know much back then anyway.

(talks to self...): But you could definitely make an awesome remake, or similar game, IF you had some more spare time...

Jaws:Unleashed uses the Ecco engine, the 3D one of course, not that antiquated typical Megadrive 2D engine . The new Jaws game freakin rocks, highly recommended.

As for the graphics, well I don't think there's anything there that DBPro couldn't handle, a nice specular shader for the dolphin skin, a decent water shader, and the remainder of the work is mostly modelling and texturing . There's a destinct lack of underwater games in DB/P, except recently we've got SubSurface of course, but I think DBPro could make a gorgeous underwater game if it wanted.
