Has anyone seen this work in progress product? (www.realmcrafter.com). It is a game creator for MMORPGs using just BlitzBasic technologies for its engine. Could a similar product be achieved with just DarkBasic Pro, call it DarkOnline or something. I would like to know if people would be interested in investing a bit of time in figuring this out, maybe for some competition or just a fun experience. Share your thoughts here.

MMORPGs are big, and hard... and long... and a tool to create them would be just as hard...

There's the Open MMORPG project floating around, with a few dedicated forum members making the whole thing... Talk to them, see if you can convince them to modularize their code so much that they can pull parts out to make an 'Editor' of sorts that is adaptable across multiple types of MMORPGs

Personally, I think MMORPGs are at the bottom of the ses-pitt of crap games which involve sad, sad people attempting to get praise from other sad, sad people because in real-life they're the 40yo Virgin...

Just my humble opinion
Jess.

You are quite right, but I am only interested in development, not playing them. I have never been active in any sorts of online MMORPGs, but I am interested in the inflow of cash from a very promoted MMO. These games can sell very well, and I think that it is an interesting area to consider just for educational purposes as well.

ROFL the way you say that make the last comment of you post seem obsolete, i think you like them really (sry, couldnt resist)

@FPS Mastermind: seriuosly, i've attempted an MORPG in DBPRO and gotten the basic system implemented. Its all the work you have to put in around the game, such as developing a server that allows for kicks/band editting spell lists, shops dialogue -not to mention all the art work. Fair enough, I did everything single handedly, and no matter how much you think your succeeding it just gets too stressful.
Altough I am assuming you WANT to attempt a tool that rivals Realm Crafter then all I can say to you is good luck. Take a look at the code in Open MMOPG and then make up your mind. Trust me, the propects of development can be tempting, but your in for a long, hard road

<editted for decent content lol>
