I'm currently starting work on textures for my (dbpro) game and would like to better understand what dimensions I should make them. I've heard that textures no longer necessarily need to be power of 2, but does it forces the game engine to do a conversion process to power of 2? Does it help if the horizontal or vertical pixels are power of 2 (like 256 x 512)?

Also, if I texture models in a program like Milkshape that reference the same texture file, when they are loaded in dbpro, they will not consume more texture memory than the one texture file that is referenced, right? They won't need to load the same texture file multiple times?

Thanks for the help.
