Without mentioning anything of the previous thread from which this quote came, and without bringing up the subject whatsoever (even though I have a TON of things I wish I could say to the people involved in them)

Quote: "Matt
1) stop starting these borderline political threads which start to go down hill. you've been here long enough to know whats ok and whats not, or rather, where borderline items will go."

But that's just it Cattle, that conversation hadn't gone there yet. I started two of these threads in the past few days, but with no intention of sparking a political debate (I think people know me well enough by now to know where I stand on any given subject). I honestly didn't want to talk about politics... it was the sign that I wanted to talk about.

Quote: "
2) be momentarily ashamed that the neocon right wing has succeeded in steering you away from whats important(illegal wars, spying on citizens, lying to congress, and countless other impeachable offenses) to dwell on ethnic diversity/immigration related issues. focus.
"

Hey now! They haven't steered me from anything! You, one of the only other people on here with liberal views, should know me well enough to know that I would not bow down to the man and his schemes But I can't talk about politics on the forums so I tend to leave that stuff alone on here... if I could post a thread where I was allowed to name everything that I thought was wrong with this country, the first post would be at least 3 pages long and it would be almost entirely designed to bait and annoy Jeku jk!

Anyway, I just wish that thread wasn't locked yet. No one was turning to evilness yet... it was just a friendly conversation. Honestly, to lock that thread which didn't break any rules or offend anyone, but keep a PS3/ 360 thread open filled to the rim with flameyness, it just doesn't make sense And you're capable of deleting threads... why not just delete the threads that are offensive, and if too many pop up, THEN lock it up? I'm sure that the people who were involved in that thread would agree that it didn't feel like it was going south.

ok, I will stand aside for now and unlock it.
honestly I didnt read the entire thing but most of it - my impression was a trend was growing.

we'll see then.

I still stand by what I said about starting threads that hover the political/religious/flamebait borderline.

carry on.

When I read it, I thought it was a bit close to the edge for my liking, but I let it through un-locked to see what response it gauged. I assumed I'd have to come back here today and then lock it, because let's face it - the ability to discuss matters like that rationally and with an unbiased nature is next to impossible for people around here.

It also isn't anything to do with 'geek culture'. I'll catch up on it now and then decide if I want it kept or not.
