This applies to Microsoft Windows XP home version.

Factual data is desired but intelligent guesses are OK.

Counter Strike Web Setup?

But seriously, try googling it, you'll find loads of info about it if its a Windows folder (which I don't think it is), and probably even more if its a virus, and maybe a little less if its something to do with some game or application...

Good luck,
Jess.

Yes I googled and google groupsed it before posting.
There were several with the same question that have been unanswered.

Jess T, did you look on your hard drive to see if you have a c:swsetup folder?

Mine is 939 MB! I am in no big hurry to get the definitive answer, but surely there is one.

And yes I think it's a Windows tool.

Nah, I haven't searched...

Window's Find takes over an hour to complete on my PC, and I have a test to study for tomorrow, so I can't afford that time wasted

Maybe someone else can help you out.

At any rate, make a backup of it on dvd, or USB stick, then delete, and see if anything starts acting weird

Jess.

My laptop had similar folders for all it's drivers so I thought it might be install files/drivers for your computer hardware. Although 939mb is huge for drivers! Maybe it includes, software bundle installs too from factory setup? If it is, I think it's safe enough to delete, cosidering it's probably all installed anyway.

What are the files in the folder? Might be able to search for them instead of the folder.

googling for a bit and looks like it's the contents of recovery CD for HP pcs and laptops, but can't see any info on whether it's safe to delete or not.

Thanks guys. I did not think to Google without the "c:\". I do have a COMPAQ laptop so apparently it's their thing.

From the searches it appears that several users have asked, but no one has given the answer.

I guess I'll rename the folder and see what happens for a few days.
