Is this really the right forum to post these questions in?... Nawell..

Well, that depends on what kind of games you would like to create, but mainly if you want to make 2D or 3D, and if you want to write the code for yourself or if want a drag'n drop program.

uh oh Adam, I'd say check out the 3d game maker. I don't know about you, but when I was twelve, I didn't have the patience for actually coding a game. Come to think of it, I still don't

I think starting to code when you're young is one of the smartest things you can do.. you'll learn the basics early and the advanced stuff later, and by the time you hit college you'll be far ahead of everyone else =) You may end up like indi who makes $X grand so he says for some project and be pretty nicely set up =)

indi doesn't program for a living. At least I don't think he does.

Wise words Saikoro. I think I started programming about 12. I made a lot of crap, but I learnt the basics early. I used to use a 2D program called Click&Play or something like that tho. Very old now though. I think it stopped working when '98 came out. It was a 3.1 or '95 app.

Get any language and learn to code. That is the only way you'll ever make decent games, and games that do exactly what you want.

You could try Quikly Game Pro, its totally awesome, its cheap, it comes from a reliable developer, with fast delivery and amazing technical support, I'd recommend it...Okay I'm pulling your chain, you can't even pay for the empty disk known as quikly .

But seriously, Dark Basic Pro is a real easy tool for making games, it requires coding, but it isn't too bad once you get started, I don't know of many 3D game makers, but you could try some awesome 2D ones like Games Factory, RPGMaker, Multimedia fusion etc.

It will take some good searching

There is quite a few languages in web development and multimedia.

Im also a multimedia artist / programmer for web/cdrom/dvd authoring.
I also edit video for corporate events and adverts etc..
I have also created 3d components for tv documentaries.

If i had to break down my day it would be.

I agree, I started at five and am well acquainted with many useful languages. Though I'm in a smart class at my school and some of my classmates can program, they can't program nearly as well as I can.

Anyway, on the topic of the thread, I rather like RPG Maker when I don't feel like coding something myself. Of course, it does get rather annoying after a while, and I don't often feel like making something without coding it myself...

BAH!

I started coding when i was about 9 or 10. even learned perl over night for a project my teacher gave me.

Your best bet if you think 3DGM isnt fun anymore is to go for DarkBASIC Professional.

I have it, god knows i cant code worth a crap but i have it and try to do things with it. If you actually take the time to learn and follow tutorials on how to do things in it and get simple concept you will be set to make a great game given some time and quality media.

You could try Beyond. Google it.

It isnt your best game mkaing engine, but it is easy to use has multiplayer support, and has the option to let you charge people to play your games (why you'd do that i don't know).

But its draw backs are that....you cannot make your own stand alone server client. You have to use there server client. I also believe it cannot do 3d games. (But i might be wrong)

RPG toolkit is a 2D rpg maker that's free. It's a bit buggy though, but it's worth a look. It's also continuously updated.

Quite frankly, DBP is the all-round best gamemaker around though if price and ease of use are factored into it.

For RPG's (RPGs?) I would use Serendipity (At least I think that's what the latest version is called now). It is at hamsterrepublic.com.
