Here comes another thread of pointlessness, where you can brag to the world about your VG finds.

Ok, the question:
What is the least you've ever paid for a video game Retail.

The Rules:
- The game 'must' have been new. Can't have been used/pre-owned.
(No internet downloads either, just off the store shelf/bin/etc.)

- It can be either console or PC.
(If the game is cross-platform Like ObsCure, list the system your versions for.)

- It can have been in a jewel-case or a box.
(Please include whether you got it in a box or jewel-case, etc in your post.)

- Clearance/Sales/Bargain-Bin/Etc 'ARE' allowed.
(The best places to hunt the elusive prey that is the 'good buy'. )

- No Theft!
(Thought that one was a given...)

- Saw it but didn't buy it? Tell your tale!

I'll start the ball rolling.
I snagged a clearance copy of Requiem: Avenging Angel in a sealed Jewel-Case for $0.01 (Marked down from 40$ to 29$ to 20$ to 14$ to 8$ then finally one cent! This game had been in the store for about four years, maybe more.)

Come on, step up and brag of your VG deal location skills!

I carry a sword in one hand,
a gun in the other...

I got a copy of Surface Tension (Or was it) G-Nome in it's original sealed box for free. (Legally, I bought a tone of games and the store owner gave it to me for free. )

I got some games in belgium for about a pound.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic got taken off the shelves the day it came out because it came up on the machines as 1p. The thing is that I think they have to sell it at that price, so someone somewhere got the cheapest new game ever.

I wonder if anyone's ever been given money to buy a game? Maybe if it's a prank.

I heard there are still people out there who pay for videogames, let alone get paid to play videogames.

QA? (AKA) Beta Testers? Yeah. (Lot of QA/Beta Tester scams out there though so watch out! Send us your money and we'll sign you up lol.)

I once found a copy of Diablo 2 that was marked as $9.00 with a product sticker reading "Barbie Adventure..." (Day it came out too.)

I turned it into the clerk instead of buying it at the mislabeled price. "Hey man, I don't think Barbie's loose in Diablo 2 eh?"

(Maybe Blizzard will make that a playable character in Diablo 3! Mwa ha ha! )

Could have saved about $60.00 lol.

The cheapest I ever paid for a game (above $0) was $0.07 for an Xbox game from Wal-Mart. I don't even remember the name (I resold it), but for $0.07 I thought what the heck. Wal-Mart sure knows how to clearance games

I bought 5 oldish games in their original packaging in a £3 for 5 deal. Mainly because I wanted the sequel to the incredible machine (or whatever that mouse trap game was called). The rest are still unwrapped. Bought them around 1997 I believe. Hmmm, just looked and Space Quest IV might be worth a punt.

I don't think it was the cheapest I'd ever gotten a game, but I got Starcraft from Costco for $8. What was so great about this, was that I went back to Costco and saw that it was now going for $24.99. I guess people remembered how awesome it was.

I think my best one has to be that I currently have approx 25 copies of Myst for PC sitting on my desk. When we were doing builds in the run up to Gold, we bought boxes and boxes of DVDs - and each box came with a copy of Myst. So, I just hoarded them.

So, 25 copies of the same game, for free. That's my record. (No, I don't know what I'm going to do with them - I'm a hoarder

What's more revealing is "What's the MOST you've paid for a game?"

I personally have paid more for one pair of pants (regular jeans, nothing fancy), then I have for a game. In other words, I have yet to spend more then $20 on a game.

The most? Probably Guitar Hero - because that came with the guitar controller. Can't remember how much it was though.

If you're taking inflation into account, then the most I ever paid was for 3d Construction Kit on the Spectrum - I had to order that through the post in an ad in a magazine. Had to send off a postal order and everything. And I never made anything worthwhile with it. *sighs*

I had that! Wasn't it the same people who did Driller? (Freescape engine?). Top stuff. I made a 3D representation of my BTEC college at the time (on the ST version which I upgraded to if I remember rightly). My stuck up lecturer wasn't impressed though. B***h...

Also had that Isometric game creator (mate of mine got published in one of the Spectrum mags with an american football inspired game from that creator), plus PAW (handy for the current competition...) and that other adventure creator that I can't remember the name of right now. And no, I didn't make anything worthy out of any of them Apart from STOS where I made a sweet LOM engine that converted to a DM engine when you went into a building. Annoyingly I was in Uni at the time (lots of time to program) and socialising became more important

The most I ever paid for a game was $80 for The 7th Guest the day it was released. What's pathetic is I was visiting my grandparents who lived about 3 hours away, and I could have waited until I got back home five days later to get it at $69.

What's even more pathetic is that I didn't even have a computer at my grandparents

The 7th Guest was that expensive when it first came out?!?

(I was playing it at age 7, now 4 months to go and mother has started beleiving the age on the case)

The advantage of having a lousy computer is the fact that you don't buy any expensive games, because they won't run.

The most money I ever spent on a PC game was about £25/£30 on Morrowind GOTY

I paid £70 for the original Turok on the N64 release day. Thats $128.... Oh yes... Total outlay that day was, if I remember rightly, something like £500. £250 for the N64, £70 for Turok, £50 for Mario 64, £50 for that star wars game, and various bits. Thats $913. At least Mario was one of the best games of all time (IMHO). Sigh....

£4.99 is the lowest I've paid for an off the shelf game. Normally one of the sold out range. £12 for a regular titles that's been out for 4 - 6 months if it sucked big time, and 12 months if it's a decent title or there's a sale on.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
(I bought it solely based off the hype surrounding the game and the hope that it'd be everything that The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall was, and more... I will not be spending that much on a game that I have never played again. )

I learned my lesson. Try the demo first, wait for the price to drop.

I get every new game at around 0.70$ as pirating was legal here until a year ago, and there are still many computer shops that sell pirated games. Most I paid for a game was 10$ as i actually bought a 3cd game, not rent it as i ussualy do now.
