Here is a modern day paramedic/emt. I'm working on a script for him that works as follows: He walks a waypoint or simply stands idle. When you get within a certain distance AND ALSO have health below 50, he will approach you and offer to heal you and restore your life.

I'm not sure about the cross and the word "MEDIC" on the back. I wanted to make him easily identifiable as a non-enemy character. But I think it kinda makes him look like a Nascar driver We'll see.

looks great bond, as usual, very nice work

your right about the nascar driver, reminds me of a guy who fixs a car in the pit-stop

great work

p.s) say if i wanted that fabric for a texture reference, do you know what i could search for, im looking for emergenvy clothing, but my textures come out...casual, im looking for that kind of "platic" like clothing which these guys wear, know what i mean?

Looks awsome!

Ya, the medic thing on the back feels a little out of place. Still good though

Could you make a female version too?

Thanks Jon and Conner. Yeah I was going to ask if a second one would be useful, so I will definitely do a female version too. They work in teams anyway...

That may be the case, but c'mon that's ridiculous. There is a health item included with FPSC creator that has, *gasp*, a red cross on it, call in the lawyers. Its pretty much a ubiquitous symbol, certainly in the context of a video-game-health item. I'm not going to worry about it.

I'm not sure who would hold the copyright, as the only two recognized international symbols are the "red cross" and the "red crescent". But I highly doubt the International Red Cross is going to come down hard on you.

Thanks for the concern though, GBC; it never hurts to give people a heads up now-adays.

Oh, and great job Bond. I see a black poly on the left collar.

sure its just not dark, i cant see anything

a small suggestion, what about making his facial expression slightly different, to me it just doesnt look like a person who looks like he would be healing you under the pressure of a gun battle, kinda neutral...

might be me though...tired

Well, I have a high-resolution flat panel monitor. Looks like a black poly to me.

Yeah that black "poly" is dark because of the rendering angle, when viewed from the other side it looks alright, and in FPSC's engine it won't be an issue. I appreciate the critical inspection, though.

I'll turn up the corners of his mouth, slightly, and see how it looks. I've experimented with different expressions and its a fine line. Since probably 90% of the time a person's face is neutral, it looks comically out of place if a game character is perpetually smiling at you, maybe even a little creepy.

lol, yeah, but thats what i mean about the expression, if you were a medic and you saw someone "dying" you would have an afraid or very cautious face, eyes wide open kinda thing.

sorry for the 'bash', im not deliberately picking out the small things, its the only things i have to notice after the all round "great job" lol

A well trained medic knows how to stay calm, lol

Hey no worries I didn't take it as a bash, nor do I with any comments that people make. I like to get a variety of opinions, then let it sit for a few days, come back and make final revisions before rigging.

Excellent work, as always!

BTW, another common colour for paramedic outfits is green - it should be easy enough to shift the hue if you want to test it out - and as an alternative to the red cross, the caduceus is a widely recognised symbol for medicine.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caduceus

And now for the nit-picking criticism...

He seems to be a bit long in the body - four and a half heads to the crotch, and just three heads from crotch to floor. I know he's wearing baggy trousers, but still...

Cheers

- Graham

Really impressive work, bond! Keep it up! I have a suggestion. can you make some ''shapes'' to his face. Now it looks pretty flat.

Really? I thought I put a fair amount of detail into the face while still keeping a reasonable poly count - 1500 tri's. Does a more profile view change your mind?

I think the face is just fine but I think his butt is too low down which also makes his upper torso look too long.
Nice work as usual.

Thanks JimB, I modelled this from actual reference pictures of a real person. I think the baggy pants makes his crotch appear to be lower than it actually is on this particualar guy.

But you're the second person to make that comment, so I'll shorten his torso to bring him into better proportion.

Impressive, very impressive!

I'm really looking forward to this character pack! Forgive me if I asked you before (I don't keep track of who's creating what for his character pack), but will the pack have a fireman and police officer also?

Thanks Benjamin, Yes I've already made a police officer, and there will be several more included in the pack, after all, what good is jst ONE police officer

Haven't thought about doing a fireman yet, but that would certainly fit the theme of the pack.

Great! I'm going looking to buy a model pack that includes civil servants and (or a seperate pack) normal day people day.

I really love your style, this models does have a calm and friendly expression, as if he's controlling the situation he's in. I disagree with Jon, I think the expression fits the paramedic perfectly. The paramedics I do know don't have the expression he reffering to at all, they stay calm and friendly in any circumstance, that's what they're trained for. Imo you've captured that expression very well in your model.

Btw I know Jon has a firemen already, but his style is completely differently from yours, so I'd love to see you make a fireman also.

Do you have a rough list what will be in the pack you're creating?

I like the script idea also!

Bond, my mom is an EMT, and I recently noticed she doesn't wear that kind of stuff. Of course, I don't know what a medic wears, and my mom's outfit might just be her little branch or whatever, but I'm curius to know where your design came from

I see whatcha mean by Nascar driver Bond. That's what came into my mind when I looked at him. Well, Daytona more like but then again its the same thing. Anyways good work dude. I hope TGC make more modern models or perhaps some horror zombie ones etc especially seeing as how I am working on the horror genre of fps.

Yeah I guess there are different kinds of medics. I meant this guy to be more of an in-the-field type emt, the type that would show up in an emergency in an ambulance. Like this guy:

You know this Pack, combined with your previous pack, and Dimoxil's soon to be released Pack (not the toon one) would be an excellent start to an actual commercial game (when version 2 of FPSC comes out).

All it would take is a good story, and plenty of time. Great work, Bond.
