2D All the way! / gravity

i have no clue how to set gravity and make a charecter stay on the ground or to make the ground to be able to stand on it. i am tryin a 2d platformer in DBP

This is what I mostly use to make a player jump.

+ Code Snippet


load image "Some Image.bmp",1

`positions
playerx# = 200
playery# = 300

`players gravity#
 player_gravity# = 6.5

 do


if spacekey() = 1
jump = 1
endif

if jump = 1
      dec playery#,player_gravity#
   dec player_gravity#,.3
endif


   sprite 1,playerx#,playery#,1

`to stop from falling
if playery# > 400
jump = 0
`resets gravity
player_gravity# = 6.5
endif

   sync
loop
