I'm having sort of the same problem, I'm modeling with milkshape
(which is indeed difficult.)

I'm sure if you checked amazon.com ,or just browsed though google that you'd be
able to find some books on modeling.I'm doing some research as we speak now.

I'll let you know if I find any good books.

I have a post under the 3 dimensional chat called.

"Having trouble with modeling??This may help."

I have a modeling program(milkshape) and some tutorials on how to make characters.

Hope this helps

I just registered for Milk Shape a while back. Go to the main page,[href]www.milkshape3d.com[/href], and on the left table, where all the links are, you'll see one that says Register. You should be able to handle it from there.
But then you have to wait like 2 days for someone to send you the code, so do it as soon as possible.

look at my post ahead.

Go to the 3 dimensinal chat and you will find the links I've given for some milkshape tutorials.

Milkshape is hard and will take time.

I myself have just started using milkshape and am having trouble, but these tutorials will help.

Modeling is actually really pretty easy and straightforward for the most part, but I had the same problem a few years ago, it will seem extremely hard until you finally figure out what the basics are, but as soon as I figured out the basics I began to start modelling pretty much everything out of a single box

The easiest way to look at it, i guess, is make a box with a lot of segments, then
convert it to a editable mesh, then start playing with the vertices to shape it into whatever

Yeah, I started just like rockfistus, now I cannot look at anything without working out how to model it (even my girlfirend !!!).But there are some free modelling packages out there,I started with wings which is ok, but its totally free. But if you want to spend money get MAX or Maya, You may need to raid the local post office a few times first though.

Dark Basic Pro drove me to drink, I really should E-mail them to say thanks.
