All right. As many of you know Windows Vista has been delayed for the longest time and it is not coming out until at least january of 2007 and people are actually saying that it might not come out until even later than that. Now I am in the market for a new computer that will last me at least a couple of years and I want to know a few things. 1) Does anyone really know when VIsta is coming out? Anyone? Can I see some hands?
2)SHould I wait for Vista or not?
3)If I buy a high end videocard now, say a nvidia Geforce 7950 which is about as good as you can get, will it still work with Direct x10 or will I be screwed
4)Basically what im asking is should I buy now and have a computer that works or suffer with this until vista comes out.

I know some of these things have been adressed before but I really cannot find it all so anything to help. Pretty please, With a cherry on top. Im begging you people I need advice.

4)Look for a computer that has a "Windows Vista Ready" logo on it. It means that you can upgrade to it, but you have to buy it.

Ok thanks for that Im looking to buy a 7900 at worst probably a 7950 at the best, I saw a drool worthy Geforce79050gt 1024mb that almost costs less than 700 dollars, but doesnt so probably the 7900. I just want to be sure that it will run DX10 because i remember that some of the 5 and 6 series Nvidias has some problems with DX9 not being fully supported.
Thanks steve.
(EDIT) Oh and yes I am building my own computer, I cant get a kick butt system without building it myself and I don't like dell or alienware. Well I like alienware but I dont like its prices.....

teehee ATI AWLAYS does well XD.

Im running vista fine on my x800 g2.

I hate it tho, i HATE windows vista. not only because hardware compatibility is not letting my wireless card work but its just so...useless...

Its like XP 64 with a new look and more mouseclicks added.

gah, ati sucks. My laptop's gfx died a while back, making it useless, since it wasnt replaceable. Then I bought a nice x600 for an older pc of mine, so it could play games (spare comp at lan party), it didnt work right out of the box. THey sent a replacement, but it broke too. Then they sent another one, saying they apologize for the problems, ect. After 2 months, it died. I do have a trusty ati rage 2 though. Ah...the good old days, with 3DNow!

Who was your manufacturer?
My X800 XL from Gigabyte with the pipe cooling is so pretty and quiet. it even manages to run without overheating in the desert summertime with the only outgoing ventilation being the fact that the left side of my chassis is hanging open (have to replace a fan).

Gigabyte... It might have been purely random, but the latter of the events pissed me off. The laptop part wasnt so bad, as it was an old one, but the x600... Also bear, assuming you live in pheonix (the most awesome city ever.), it doesnt have *as much* humidity as living near the columbia river, in a hilly area, with many swamp areas, and I have found that my old house had really bad humidity, and it affected the hardware a bit. It just peeved me bad-_-

edit:

btw, roosevelt lake owns.

Ok. I am running Vista Beta 2 public preview on a Gateway
4200+ AMD 64x2, 1gig ram and 6100 integrated graphics.

Other than a few bugs and disk thrashing normal in a beta, no major show stoppers, so it should work well with better graphics.
I am using the full Aero interface, too.

It looks to be a fine product when finished, and worth
having.

Well go with Penguin Sphere and well make it a totally cool console. The Controllers will be wireless spheres that interact with ones body and control gameplay using, get this, nervous signals from your brain.....
OOOOH...
Lets see nintendo top that one!
And Microsoft!

Dude, the linux icon is a Tux, not a penguin. Geh, you false linux users sicken me (By the way, the difference is that tux's are specific type of penguin)

So it would be..:
TuxSphere?
PlayTux?
TuxStation?
TuX-BOX?
