My computer had one of thoose crashes a while back, where the computer just restarts out of nowhere, well everything on my desktop was gone when it rebooted after a very long wait at the login screen, so I figured everything was just deleted, well I was wrong, I was looking around for things taking up space a few mins ago, and I remembered I had a nes emulator that might be taking up some space, and well when I was looking I found that the desktop i had been using was not my desktop but a TEMP file that windows created and my real desktop is not mine anymore, but is hidden in the HD, after I deleted everything off my old desktop I did not want, it made 7 more GB's avalable.

Now whats confusing is, how am I going to get my old desktop adress back ( one with out the \temp\desktop in front of it)?

The solution here may depend on exactly which Windows operating system you have.

lemee guess, like most people you had folders and files on your desktop as opposed to ONLY shortcuts?

if so = not good

windows is great for people who want an easy(ish) life

linux is more complicated and is not always better

its a kind of thing for different circumstances, windows for surfin, msn, playing music, making music, video and audio editing; linux for older computers for kernel deving, having a laff and keeping up to date with technology

Windows is good depending on who its for and drives other absolutely insane, like me, unfortunately, there are good things that come with a catch

Well as to the problem, best idea is always to have a clean desktop, whenever I don't have use for desktop items immediately or are no longer needed I other shove them in a folder labelled 'desktop' which is acessable from the task bar or delete them.

As for freeing up the gigabites, I managed to free up loads recently by disk cleanup (estimated 16gb but did 12) try using disk clean up, not to be patronising, but some people can never find disk clean up, check your HD properties from My Computer And perhaps theres a lot of wasted space there.

As for the restarting issues, not a clue, my sister had that problem, I think it sorted out when we had to take it to the shop, or I think it stopped after a while, it was a lil while back so useless info like that doesn't stay in

I am sparticus and so is my wife

So you won't be using any of TheGameCreators software soon then? I am pretty sure you won't get it working properly under Linux, even with WINE.

Oh, and on a side note... if you are serious about experimenting with your computer and having more control over your Internet connection, I would ditch AOL. Seriously.
