Good reason
I personally can't stand the Lost Prophets though.
Best band has got to be Abba, definately, I want their babies!!!
Back into seriousness...
The best bands for me:
Symphony X - They are quite unique, although Progressive metal, like Tool or Dream Theatre, but have their own originality, by combining progressive metal with...Symphony (name gives it away) sometimes they include actually symphony music with the addition of guitars etc. or will play the standard rock instruments with a symphonic twist, something I highly recommend trying out.
Metallica - My first metal band really (when ruling out Zepplin and Aerosmith) Well my second half of my life has been growing up loving Metallica's music, Master of Puppets being my favourite album, to me it was full of angst and meaning, it wasn't about getting angry at a booze party (like some of their later stuff) but the suffering of war heroes etc.
Marilyn Manson- I started listening to him after Metallica (Aged 8/9) I cannot stand his new stuff, but loved his old stuff, he was almost an idol for me, his music was twisted, emotional and even had a meaning in places that wasn't always something satanic, but I liked how he tackled teenaged angst (I didn't have much angst myself, but it is what made his music good) then he sacked Twiggy who helped him write songs...and sort of followed the mainstream sort of style, sex, booze, drugs, girls and partying, woo-bloody-hoo. Coma White and Sweet Dreams are my favourite songs, but I think his beetles cover of working class hero is really good, they all shed some powerful emotions, as did my other favourites.
Damien Rice-
A cello, an orchestra, an Opera singer (Eskimo), an acoustic guitar, a gentle voiced man with heart ache, all make some beautiful music, its like something I've never heard before, he stands out and his music is very poetic, as a writer something poetic attracts me. Eskimo is a really good song of his.
Led Zepplin-
I don't need to explain Zepplin, their music is mind blowing, it shows a lot of talent and originality and creativity, Stairway to Heaven has to be their greatest, as many have loved it, including myself.
Opeth-
A mix of heavy screamy metal and progressive metal, long songs like any other proggies, but just know how to get that guitar keep me interested in the song and think 'dude this is great' and his voice is definately better than that of Dream Theater's, a good mix of screaming a singing, but all well placed. Glad I saw them at download, they are worth seeing and I might see them again in a few weeks if I can get enough people to come.
