Better, and I looked into the Rochester thing for you... to my knowledge they're safe.

Personally, yes... each day we can access more and more of the city, and we're already gearing up for more natural disasters, what with global warming and all (I seriously think it played a role in these floods, not that I'm any authority on the subject). From now on, we'll have first aid kits, food supplies, etc. ready for the worst-case scenario, no questions asked, even if it might not be necessary, because after watching friends and family across the board lose their homes and all their worldly posessions and whatnot, I think I've learned a valuable lesson here. The mayor, Matt Ryan, told CNN that he was going to have better levees put up using modern technology (our old levees were from the 1930's, built after the last flood lol). Which means 50-80 years from now, the city will get flooded again

With my level of preparedness, my entire family would have undoubtedly gone the way of the Jeff Buckley. We were incredibly lucky the water stopped where it did, and I have a whole new respect for the National Guard now (the soldiers themselves, my political stuff will never change because I'm so bullheaded
). If it weren't for them and their l33t (hehe, I said "l33t") engineering skills, my house would be very, very wet right now.

Well, the newspaper had this huge special edition about the flood, and they had this college professor guy who said that with Global Warming, Binghamton could get hit again very soon. Also, everyone has been talking about the possibility of NYC being hit with a category 3 or category 4 hurricane, which would no doubt be worse than Katrina (more people, more tall stuff to fall on people, pretty much the worst parts of the bible), and our proximity means we'll get hit with a lot of the same junk. And to top it all off, there was a special on the Discovery Channel that said a tsunami could hit the east coast. UGH! All in all, I'm hoping that we all learn from this so if all this bad stuff *does* happen (and "the man" has been wrong before... Y2K anyone?) we won't end up six feet under... water... tacky joke, sorry, couldn't help it. It's my dad's side, I swear!
