I will have to add more bones to the model so the middle is less straight; but I did the same as you did jon and did symmetry so I only had to do one half of the texture.

Ill get it fpsc ready and show videos some time.

It will be part of a fantasy pack; including swords, shields etc. I have given enough freebies away recently, so this won’t be free; sorry.

I just want to make a sugestion that you may already be doing,I know modelsing aint easy(i tried) and its a great models, but if you want it to look really cool, it will have to be animated and have to have hands(which would take hours and wouldn't be worth it, in my opinion.) Just a suggestion.

I stopped coming on my computer because I had too many things I had going on with modelling; so the bazturret is the last thing ill get done.

I just do what I feel like, so the fantasy pack will be the next release; unless I get flooded with stuff.

Nice.

Cool, you've already got it rigged with bones, then? I'm trying to think in my head how a bow would be rigged....

I played on "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask" before; just to see how the bow works.

It doesnt bend that much, so all I will do is animate a hand loading an arrow; then have the flak model take over.

I only rigged the bow with bones so I could mold it into the right shape.

Do you use milk shape or max Higgens? A loft in max would be an easy make for a shape like this.
Quote: "and did symmetry"

Sounded like Max but since I don't use milk shape. But making a loft with a rectangle then resizing the verts as it got closer to the handle would be a real easy way to do this. Then just double that section and put a "handle" in between.

After saying that I decided to make one:
Once the loft is made apply a "bend" modifier( what axis depends how yours is sitting) to taper the bow so the ends are thinner then where it is toward the handle section. It's not that your ways wrong or mines right....just another way of doing it.

Image included: Did that bow in less then 2 minutes

I use 3DS Max and I also model from boxes. The way I made mine was from a box and I added bones to curve the model; then collapsed it all.

It doesnt matter how fast you made your bow, its how you do it.

i wouldnt trust Majora's Mask for physics reference, keep in mind its an old game, they probably gone off the reality of the bow streching to save memory. If you have Oblivion, tryu testing the bow on that, i cant remember how it is, i dont think it bends very much but there should be a sign of strain

couldnt you just rotate the vertices?, say make a box then 'connect' some edges, i just dont think the hassle of rigging it just to get that shape is worth going through

The bow in Zelda does bend. You see it more in third person mode while you are Z Targeting,

I like doing it, thats all that matters to me; I also have all the time I need so it doesnt bother me.
