Ouch, if the findings are actually true.

The wait is over

Sony could buy about twelve LG's if they wanted to. They're the most successful home entertainment company in the world.
edit: I heard rumors that Sony wants to buy Kyocera, so maybe that's where the confusion came from.

Eh, this is only a quarter of a billion dollars... they've got that lying around, I'm sure. This sort of stuff always seems to happen to electronics companies. Didn't Nintendo have this same problem? And Aiwa? I dunno, when you're dealing with that much money I guess accidents can happen, but even I, the biggest Sony fanboy on TGC (the only Sony fanboy on tgc? ) will admit that Sony really %#@#%ed the pooch on this one, if it proves to be true. But...

Don't bilateral tax treaties only exist between annexed nations and their "superiors" or whatever they call that? Like Puerto Rico and The United States, or Hong Kong and England before HK went back to Chinese rule? And I wouldn't be surprised if they managed to win a case like that. The bigger the corporation, the more often they get away with crap, and sony has a long, long history of dodging bullets and whatnot (like most other super-corporations). I'm not saying they should get away with it, I'm saying they probably will, so don't try to misquote me That seems to be happening a lot lately lol

That's cool to know. Well in that case, Sony probably has a case. See, I'm at a conflict of interests here. The fanboy in me wants them to win, but the liberal in me thinks that as a corporation they should face the music and be forced to pay out the wazoo.

It's time to leave Sony, Matt. Get your CDs out of their car, and just move on.

My dad just bought a Sony receiver .
If only Guitar Hero were on other platforms.

I'm with Matt Rock on this one. $250 million is pocket change to the likes of Sony or Microsoft. Nintendo would have a harder time with it I suppose. But really, people may lose their jobs over this--- that's probably it.

Not pocket change, its more liek if the governemnt came to oen of us and said you owe $3k in extra taxes, most of us could pull it off but itd put a nice dent in soem of our plans.

I couldnt pull that off-_- I have about $200 to my name, especially since my cc is charged (really not my fault, I am looking into how much money the moving company charged me, because it wasnt supposed to be more than $500), and I just moved. That would be a pretty large dent for me, aka bankruptcy...

Well $3k is a lot of money to your average person... I think it's more like $250 Sony can take this blow and move one whereas a lot of companies would probably keel over and bleed from every orifice. They'll be fine.

Of course you have to remember they have not "lost" anything, if they were supposed to have paid this in taxes it was money they never had to begin with and It has just been sitting around collecting interest. Besides these corps have money set aside for just these kind of things
