Hi all,

Ok, so you're going to read about the newsletter being released here on the forum first, rather than have it appear in your mailbox, thanks to bloody Microsofts bCentral service. It has been 'broken' all evening, and I'm fed-up waiting for them to fix it so I can send the issue out as it's now 1.50am in the morning

So anyway, the issue is uploaded and you're all welcome to read it now!

This month we've got features on eXtends, Dark Lights, Dark Physics and new product updates for Dark A.I., DBPro 6.2 and 3D World Studio. Lee also felt he'd like to write an article, so this month we've got the first of what I've dubbed the 'pyramid-head' articles (read it and you'll see why), as well as a superb piece from BatVink on Project Management, and a great conclusion to Grant's Arcade Environments series.

Read it all here.

I simply didn't have time to get the banner voting thing sorted, sorry, so I will announce that early next week. But otherwise, everything we wanted to get in this month is there.

Cheers,

Rich (who thought tonights Dr. Who episode was AWESOME btw!)

WOW TGC!!

I had given up hope of getting the updates to Plant Life and TreeMagik since you obviously where not obligated after you purchased Aliencodec
Quote: "now upgrade to the latest versions (with all the bundled extras) completely free of charge"
that is great news.

Thank you.

No problem, we had always planned to do that - we just didn't have time to until this week!

Awesome as always, Rich. I was going to ask you guys about Google Sketchup, but you're already ahead of me.

And thanks to Paul Johnston Thanks to have listen to my feedback about Dark AI.

Absolutely.

hehe. Lee sent me that image a few weeks ago, I showed Rick and Rick was like 'oh dear', so I accidentally lost the file. But the day before I was compiling the issue, Lee sent me the picture file again, insisting it appear, so I had to give in (he is my boss after all!)

Adding native google sketchup support into DBPro was a wise move guys. Keep making these wise moves and TGC will be one of the 'big boys'.

I was looking at Sketchup Last week. The pro version exports 3DS, but costs over £300.

Can someone tell me if the 'Real-Time Sky System' in the 'The Extends Expansion Pack' is for 3d environments and if our own skyboxes can be used for the day/night effects?

Just had a play with sketchup....sweet baby jesus yodeling joyously from the rooftops!...thats damn cool.
Really it's amazing how simple the program is to use, I'll definately be incorperating that into game world editor.
Wonder how hard it will be to use DBP to export the sketchup files as .x or .3ds.

Other than that great newsletter as usual, mighty fine work all round.
