First off I'm not a graphics person , I have a nice little space game that I have all the rules coded for and works well.

I have figured out and added a skybox and textured ship models.

Now what I haven't been able to figure out how to add the engine glow on the starships and the laser fire along with hit effects.

so I was wondering if someone had a example of how to do these 3 things in a 3d game using DBPro

Thanks

Take a look at Grant's tutorial in the Newsletter. His effects are atmospheric, but you can apply the same principles to anything.

Thank you for reply, read his tutorial and actually it helped with my planets as I added 2 transparent spheres to make the atmosphere look real on them. but ...... wait a minute....

if I make a object that looks like a burn pattern with a animated texture. and make attachment points on model I could attach them using limb commands and hide them when not in use.

ok 1 down. not I just need the laser fire from ship to ship.

I found a tut, on laser fire but it was a side scroller and I'm looking at 3d.

you can usually apply the princaples to 3d from 2d.. especially if it is 32 '2d'. (ok i bet that is confusing)

if you are using the latest version of dbp then i can send you a dbo file i have that uses ghosted cones and planes.. theres a fire and a blue-plasma version. i use it for the engine effects in my space game (check out the gallery at http://www.aofp.co.uk.. either the main gallery or for more go to projects -> SSE --> SSE Project Gallery)
