I am making an attempt at creating my first model. People have been asking for rr tracks, but apparently no one likes accode ( or whatever that company is), so here is the first pic of some rr tracks. I am trying to make them as detailed as possible. Please comment before I go any further..lol

***POST EDIT*** JULY 9th

Added another model farther down the page of a power meter.

Also a telephone pole with climbing spikes, insulators and transformer with temporary textures for now.

More to come

***EDIT***July 10th***

Added new RR Crossing light with gate. Almost complete. Just need to add sign and wires.

***END EDIT***

Looks good so far. The rails should be taller.

Redid the rails. Made them taller and rounded the top edges more.

Pic 3. Still have to put the rr ties on the inside of the tracks, then make curved tracks and test them in the game.

There is no problem to scale a model. That can be fixed easy....

no scaling isnt the problem its its TOO HIGHT and you hit enter in hopes of it comming to the segment level your on...but instead it gets shot up like 50 segments high and you have to take it and bring it all teh way down
so if your gonna make somthing out of sketchup make a full level

Yes I am using Sketchup. BUT after reading some posts on the boards here, I am figuring that it wont be useful with the current version of FPSC because you can't use multiple textures on a model unless you are able to unwrap the texture from the model. Judging by my tracks model, I would have to make each part of it seperate, then build it piece by piece in the game, and thats not time feasable if you ask me.

you can use multiple textures in fpscreator just dont assign a texture path in the fpe file

however all am curious at is how have you solved the conversion problem

as far as i know only the commercial version exports to a useable 3d format

just curious am not digging at you on this just curious to learn more and further my knowledge

peace out

Thats what I have, the legal version of Sketchup. So I can export it to any format the program allows.

at ÂŁ315.00 for sketchup pro

good stuff nice to see some folk investing in decent software

but if your prepaired to spend that much on 3d software

you might want to check out the lawmaker engine

then again i got room to talk i still got 895 pound left to pay off on my credit card for max

anyway back on topic

you can use multiple textures on fpscreator just loose the texture path and insert in to fpscreator as a dynamic entity

and your sketch up models will work perfectly

nice model

peace out

Here is the finished model pic. All ties are on both sides of rails now complete with posts. I think all I have to do now is export them as an .x file? Only question I have left is how to do an .fpe file for them. I know it needs one in order to set paramiters for the entity. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First off,,I want to give a great thanks to Disturbing 13. I am gonna tell ya, that guy knows what he is doing. Thanks to his help with fpe's and such, I was able to get my tracks working properly in the game. Here is a screenshot. I have to adjust the texture for the rrties and such, but they will be done in a few days.

Disturbing 13,,my hat goes off to you in a big way. Thank you for being such an asset on and off the messageboards.

Here is a new ingame screenshot. I am going to make a new stone base for the tracks. It will have texture to it and make it look for realistic. When this is finished, the entities will be in 3 seperate entities so that you can alter the tracks to fit your game.

Another new model to go along with a pack I am making.

This one is a power meter and wire pipe that would go on the side of a building or a house.

I am making things more or less to add realism to games and letting all the other people take care of characters and weapons, cuz frankly, I am not that good yet.

Check out the pics and I'll have more later.

Yeah, Sketchup is really a great beginners tool if you ask me. I have only been using it for close to a week now. I still have a long way to go in order to get some really good realism in my work, but I think this is more fun than making a game itself.

Thanks for the comments. Nice to hear from the community to find where my work stands.

Are you talking about rotating or getting it to look like it is curved in different angles?

What I did was make 2 different pipes 1 vertical, 1 horizontal, put them at the intersecting point I wanted them to meet at, created a rectangle box to connect them. Then you can take the pencil tool, go to the end of the box, draw a line diagnal in the corners, use the arc tool to pull the angle I wanted. Do that for each corner at 1 end of the box, then use the extrusion tool to push the corner piece back, then delete it.

It sounds confusing as ..well,,you know what. I had to play around with it to figure it out.

I dont know if that makes sense or not. Not really good at explaining things considering I am new at this. I am more hands on type. If you want I can make you some screen shots showing exactly what I did.

Bulletsoft Games*** Thank you. I am working on an entire pack of entities.
