Can not find any tutorial on this subject except one for a battlefield 1942 tutorial. They use bone and animation, but I cann't figure it out. Any hints are welcome.

The easy, "Smoke and Mirrors" method would be to move the texture, not the model.

Actualy I aready figured that part out but(with moving textures) the tracks in battlefield move up and down as you drive over the terrain. What I understand is that the track a skinned to the bones that are vertical right above the lower track part and as you move over till example a stone, the bone moves up pulling the track with it.
Otherwise the tank has no suspention.
Is there someway to link indivisable bones in a model the Get ground height command?

Your on the right track. I work on Battlefield so I know how they work but to explain it in DBP will be much different. And it wont be exactly the same as in BF but it will be similar.

But yes, you should put bones on the track at the same locations where the bobbing smaller wheels are in the middle of the track on the bottom. You dont have to worry about the upper row of wheels and perhaps not even the front and back larger wheels but just the middle lower row of wheels.

If you have attached the wheels to the tank using limbs, then you will be able to get the translation and rotations of the wheels to orient the associated limbs of the track.

If you positions the associated limb of the track to where the limb of the wheels are, them your track will stay with your wheels. You may have to do quite a bit of adjustment.

Then keep the track object as a whole, attached to your tank. This would be the best way to mimic the tracks in BF.

Another method could be to make the wheels part of the track. Then you can reposition the limbs according to the ground height. A problem may be rotating the wheels in this case.

I am putting myself to the fullest possible use, which is all I think that any conscious entity can ever hope to do. ~Hal-9000
