NOD32 - stops more dodgy stuff than other AV programs.
Its also a lot smaller and quicker than Norton.

You should be up to SP2 now.

Come to the last Unofficial DBPro Convention (http://convention.logicstudios.net/)
Dont do anything I wouldn't do. But if you do, take pictures.

If you used search thingy at bottom of page you will find the same question is answered over and over and over again.

Just get AVG or NOD32, steer well clear of Norton stuff.

Windows XP is up to Service Pack 2 which you should definetly get if you haven't already. You do do regular 'windows updates' don't you? to keep system upto date with service packs and security fixes.

NOD32! Always! (www.eset.com)

Steer well clear of Norton, it is bloated crap that will slow down your PC, no matter how uber it is. Plus it's pretty poor at catching viruses too.

AVG is pretty good too if you're a cheap-skate But if you want some quality protection, that covers all bases (email, IM, browsing, file copying, p2p, etc) then NOD32 is your man. I cannot recommend it enough, all of TGC use it on all of their machines!

Cheers,

Rich

For a free AV offering an all round protection I would recommend Avast! http://www.avast.com

Home computers are being called upon to perform many new functions, including the consumption of homework formerly eaten by the dog.

i'm using Trend Micro (PC-Cillin 2006). i got it from work because it is required that we have clean computers when bringing files from my home to work and visa versa.

i think people will always have different views on which av program is the better one, my vote goes to Trend anyway.
