Thats cause there isn't one......you can convert .3ds to .x but not .max. There 2 different file types.

tj990,
If you have just acquired 3dsmax and are new to it then you have a steep learning curve ahead.
There are two exporters available that I am aware of to turn native .max files into .x files suitable for DBPro and FPSC...

Panda .x exporter for 3dsmax
Quest3D .x exporter for 3dsmax

They don't come with 3dsmax when you buy it but can be downloaded for free. Search on the Web.

Good Luck..

tj990, You bought an expensive 3d modelling program and you don't even know what a polygon is? Well its your money I suppose.

visit http://www.freewebs.com/teammegabasic for FPSC models, media and games.

He sounds like hes around 10-12, so Iam guessing he hasnt bought 3dmax and has downloaded it from a torrent. I hope it has nice virus in it.

Then he says there are alot of files that ar in the .max file

Then hes asking if its possible to export them into Fpscreator

Yes,
Now that's clarified tj990 needs to tell us what sort of 3dsmax files are all over the Net, there are two types of files associated with 3dsmax.

.3ds files
.max files

If he is refering to .max files then the above applies and it's an expensive purchase while if he means .3ds files then they can be imported into a number of 3d programs (eg. milkshape) and exported as .x files for use in FPSC.

I am wanting to get into modelling and 3ds max seems to be where its at...am I looking at the wrong thing!?! the only 3ds max modeller thing I could find was Autodesk 3dsmax 8 ... http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=5659302&siteID=123112 at a hefty $4000! Is that what all you modellers seriously use? Or is there some toned down version like milkshake or blender?!?

In 3dsMax you can import or open .max files and save models as .3ds you can't export to active x files without a plugin.
when you have your .3ds file you can convert it to .x with the converter in one of the forum post.

Nue B. or not Nue B. That is the question.

No problem, I hope it helps in your decision. Remember to check the forums of any program you are considering to make sure they are active, when you need support.
