I have a model, it is in .MDL format.
Ihave used LithUnwrap to convert it but i dont get the textures right and i dont get the animation.
I was aware that i couldnt get the animations but does anyone know how.

I have attached the model if you would like to see it and (If you can) get the things i want right

.mdl format does not have bones. It is much like if not a ripoff of an .md2. FPS requires bones for animation. Hope that cleared things up for ya.

This is a very late post as you realise but do you think it could be riged to a skeleton

You're going to need a program that can import .mdl files, firstly. Since the standards around here are 3DS Max and Milkshape, I'd consider one of those two if they can. If not, pray you can find a free converter to be able to do so.

Milshape can take .mdl files.

FPSC-Toolkit in the make.Progress log:
FPSC-Segments 35%---FPSC-Entity 's 0%---FPSC-Signs 0%
FPSC-Decals 0%---FPSC Characters 0%

yup, milkshape can do the job you just may have a time getting the first frame to line up with the skeleton as it will almost surely be in a pose.
