Hello,
I am considering getting DB. Back in the C64 days, I used to program text adventure games with a friend of mine using Basic. It is now many moons later and I see this DB product. What I want to know is, how easy is it REALLY, to make role-playing games? (both first person and 3/4 view)?
I got NeverWinter Nights. It was/is cool. But it is far more limiting then they led on. The general population cant do more then make plain dungeon crawls with it because it took a real high level of understanding code (C+, I beileve).
Is DB going to be a let down like that? Is there much "point and click" as well as allowing for scripting?

DB has really peeked my interested, especially since it is like basic. I am hoping my long time ago days of programming "come back to me". x-d

Thanks in advance for your advice,

If your looking for a (relatively) easy way to make games, DB is definitely the program you are looking for. It can do most things the old BASICs could, and more. The main difference between DB and most other BASICs is that it it made for making games, which in your case is a huge advantage . RPG's are usually big projects, but once you gain some experience in DB they arent all that hard to make, only time-consuming, so if you get DB, start with simple games like Space Invaders and Pong to get the hang of DB, then gradually work your way up to RPGs.

Whatever I did I didn't do it!

Yea Kent just about nailed it all. There are a few RPGs being worked on right now. The first ones that come to mind are Dwarven Tales (by Indi and crew) and Eternal Destiny (by my team )

There was an incredible RPG under way called Equilibrium. You can see it in the showcase section at www.darkbasic.com and the homepage is www.mojomagic.co.uk It truely was a brilliant game, but sadly isnt in development any more.

Get DB, its awesome

Cheers!
