Hi,

That is for four months I use DarkBasic classic and it is great. With this language, I realize my child' dream. I make games. That's amazing for me!! It makes my niece and my girlfriend very happy to play on games I made.

Now, it is time for to prove myself my work is enough good to be presented on a competition.

So, I registered myself to this event. I'm on it!

I hope to make a game very funny.

This game is a remake of "Frogger". I know there are a lot of remakes of this one but mine will be different. That is for two weeks I work on it and a beta version is made.

I'm wondering how many darkbasic game makers are involved in this competion. Do you know?

However, I don't find your email adress. That is why I post it on this thread, hope to be read.

See you soon to present my work.
Laurent Mrejen

PS: Excuse me for my english. I'm a french guy and you know how bad in foreign languages Frenchs are.

We usually have a very good turn out in competitions like this.. i.e. quite a large number of games are made in DB/DBPro (and they often do very well). So you won't be alone

I'm joining the collective over there in making a Ghostbusters remake - Ghostbusters rocked, and people have wanted a remake for years, now they'll get about 5!

If there's one tip for these competitions, it's polish - don't get stuck in the originals graphics, menu systems and graphics is the one area we can definately improve most of the time, there's really not a lot we should do with gameplay, so try and get really neat and smooth menus and options in place, counts for a helluva lot.

Competition? There's a new competition?
Never knew. I think you'll have another contestant...

But ofcourse, I wish you good luck...

<edit>Sorry, but I can't find any page with info about the competition...

It was a sticky in Geek Culture for a while, and was in the newsletter. Not sure how you missed it. Anyway, deadline is Aug. 31, so we'd better get busy. I started a little remake in DBP using my IDE, but soon got distracted adding features to my IDE. The end result is that you guys are going to have one sweet IDE, but I probably won't have a decent competition entry.

Good performance is better than a good excuse.

Yup, I'll better get busy.
Especially since I'm going on vacation for 2 weeks one of the next days...

Ah well.

Thx anyway, I can't believe I missed it myself.

Do we have to make a remake? Can't we just make a retro game with retro graphics?

Read the rules. They're about as clear as can be.

Hi,

It's me again.

Has anyone receive something to proceed the retro-remakes competition registration. I still don't have any mail to explain the way. My game is not finished yet but I'm worried about this.

If someone knows something, don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you in advance.
