And what, the kid complained to his dad? If I had got that at 11 years of age then I would have damn well faked the happy sounds of game playing I tell ya. Kids are confused these days. Then again not like when I was a kid; internet these days is like wall to wall pron. Almost impossible to search for anything without getting some swedish bimbo in a comprimising position. Darn. Heh, a search for the computer game "Bionic Commandos" was enlightening once upon a time.

Actually thats probably it; he handed it back to his dad because it was too soft compared to his internet collection

Cheers

haha, I think either the kid is lying or wal mart erpackaged the used product (which they apparently do all the time) and didnt check to see if it was legit. They probably dont have a guy with a PSP open to check stuff like that out ya know?

hahaha, this reminded me of a person in my class (4 years ago).

he was a little.. awkward to say the least, not like the other boys.
all he ever thought of was girls clothes and stuff, he drawed designs of girls clothes, and even made his own clothes and stuff.

so one time in school, we entered a pron site (they blocked web-adresses then, not web content so we could enter sites they had not listed in the block list) and showed him some pictures.

hahaha, he was running out of the room and almost fainted

later we got detention for watching porn at school because he told some teacher.. that wasn't very nice of him. :/

I'll bet these kinds of things have happened before. There are a few stories of things going onto game discs that aren't supposed to be there...

this same thing happened to me when I was eleven. I went and bought a copy of Byte magazine, and when I got it home it was full of playboy porno pics. Someone must have returned a Byte magazine, but substituted the innards with an old playboy - I guess no one checked to see if it was legit. I guess there wasnt anyone that had, um, thumbs there at the candy store.

I had a Doom level disk once on a magazine. Waaay back in something like 1995 (ie. Not Doom 3!). This CD was a special one with something like 1000 Doom levels. Anyway, I loved Doom so started playing a few of them. Most of it was rubbish though, then I noticed Doom XXX. Yes, I thought, hardcore shooting action! I wasn't far off the mark, but nothing really to do with and FPS.

Well, that was a bit of a lie, it was actually the first Doom level, exactly the same (ie. shoot monsters, get key, open door... etc) except for the fact that all the walls had hardcore porn images on them. Made searching for different and secret rooms far more entertaining I can tell you. And this was on a proper off the shelf magazine. And no I didn't go running to tell Daddy or whoever I'm guessing the mag just bunged on a load of maps from an FTP site somewhere and didn't really check them (think there was literally thousands on the CD).

Cheers

Oh for god's sake, why? I'd laugh a bit and make the most of appearing in local news. What does he intend to sue for? Causing the kid distress? I imagine for an 11 year old kid it was actually quite an exhilarating experience.

classic excuse, caught with a cutting of a naked lady in your favourite kids magazine, then Dad catches you with it, and automatically you will try to get out of it...

I once downloaded a documentary about really big versions of the horns you put on your handle bars on your bike. Ya know, old style honk honk horns to let people know you're coming. That turned out to be porn!! Huge Hooters I think it was called.

Something similar might just happen when I release a game. All of my game disks will be replaced with upbeat, high tempo porn. Hmmm, who could have done such a thing...

hehehe .wad, ahh teh days of editing doom maps and graphics. First step to game making for me, totally went to a book store and found "hackers guide to DOOM" came with a cd with all teh stuff you need to edit it, i was like wow a cd with a book! what a new idea! so after making some maps of my school i found dark basic.

as for the thread topic, so many things could have happened, most likely, "a pr0n umd was returned in place of an nba game, resealed and sold as new".

I have a subscription to an Australian gaming magazine, sometime last year, one of the demo CD's that came with it was filled with Korean Karaoke and not games. This wasn't a one-off though, everyone who bought the magazine got the wrong content, they put a message on their website letting everyone know to email them if they wanted the correct CD and they re-mailed them all out. Unfortunately, my replacement CD came broken in half, so I had to get yet another new one!

I have a disk I was given free when I bought another game which was professionally printed from the factory as 'Zeppelin - Giants of the Sky' but actually has 'Railroad Tycoon' on it. I also remember having a CD32 game returned to where I used to work many many years ago because the disk actually contained an Irish folk music album!
Misprinting at the CD manufacturers does happen, sadly it doesn't make them more valuable like it does with postage stamps.

First thing I did when I bought the very same mag was to take it round to my mate's house and install it on his machine. If you say it was 1995, then that would make me about 14 years old at the time. And no, we didn't go and tell our parents about how this CD had warped our fragile little minds ... we just sat kinda akwardly for a bit. There defiantely was a media furore though, about 2 years after (these sensationalist journos are always on the ball). You can imagine the typical Daily Mail headline.

Incidentally, one of the texture changes was to turn the square switches into a breast. Class. I also seem to remember that the little pink snorty demon thing, instead of a snort had a ... ahem ... moaning woman. Very, very amusing to be walking around these creepy hallways and hear a chorus of women moaning.

I had the same problem in my youth. Bought a top-shelfer and was gutted when I got home and found it packed with source-code and ZX-81 reviews.

Yep, my memory seems to be clearing. Top wad that one Can't remember any mention in the press, but then again I haven't read a paper since about 1993, and in the mid nineties I'm afraid I was very very drunk
